Well this is annoying, yesterday I noticed the stitching my Alpinestars GP Plus gloves had come undone on one finger and I now have a hole in my glove, and today I go to put my knock back armor on and the frigging waist strap has detached itself from the armor.

How annoying.

Edit: Just checked the otherside of the armor, and that stitching is coming loose as well, ffs.

The velcro on my trousers has somehow detached form the pockets, so i can open my pocket and the velcro stays stuck close
They were hammydowns (handmedowns) to be fair

Joe will be most pleased i've already broken them, purely from wearing them every damn day Thumbs Up

Lets all talk about what's falling apart, wooha

Zip on my jacket's inside pocket is coming away.

Just had to repair two splits down the side of my thumbs on both gloves (exactly the same place on each glove).

Was all brand new in January too :O

If you have had them a short period of time take them back to where you got them from.

I had some GP plus' and they developed a hole in the finger and a few down the stitching.
IMO Alpinestars offer great protection, but practically their longevity is fucking AWFUL.
My SMX boots are falling apart too, and my RST jacket is so much better than my alpinestars one.

On my Sidi boots the Velco on some of the straps has come off and now one of the soles is detaching from the upper. Shocked Damn things, I've only had them a little over twenty years, things just arn't made to last any more. Rolling Eyes

Last week the zip on my textile jacket snapped right off Mad Had to have a whole new zip fitted onto the jacket which luckily only cost me £15.
Got it fitted within the week, luckily the weather has been fine and dry so got away with just using my summer jacket.

This is dangerous though, what if I had come off? Would have offered no protection, the kidney pad would probably end up causing some damage as well.

Then sort your own kit out, it's your job and your job alone to keep on top of, if you only just got it and have a warranty, take it back, else, buy a new one, fix it, or man up Wink

Explain to me how the fuck I keep on top of my kit when a clear fault with the product has arisen? Am I supposed to inspect the stitches constantly and sew it back up if it fails? I don't fucking think so, don't be a cock with such a statement.

I have gone out and bought a new one, perhaps I should not wear it so I can look after the stitches Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

As for looking after kit, I look after my kit a damn load better than most people, my leathers get fed, my boots get cleaned and fed on a regular basis, in fact my old back protector looks just as clean and shiny as my new one, my kit and my bike gets looked after very well.

Take it back then bro, just sayin, if it's a poor quality product then you might aswell name it so people know to avoid it, and take it back if you still have the receipt and got it not long ago Thumbs Up

My 2 year old Alpinestars smx-5 boots have just been replaced. The zip ripped and the sole was peeling off for the second time after I had it repaired about 4 months ago. I replaced them with some Gaearne G Ike boots I got for £60 reduced from £160 from a Honda Dealers by me they seem fine so far. Bit disapointed in how long the smx-5 's lasted.

Also my 12 year old handmedown Frank Thomas gloves have seen better days got a few holes in now. Ive been keeping my eyes open for a pair of nearly new second hand Knox Handroids for the right price Very Happy

with Alpinesars stuff, if you've lost the reciept write an email to the head office in italy, explain how long you've had them and tell them how you feel about what has gone wrong, and how much you've paid for them, attach a pic or two

worked for me

Remember, average mileage for a motorcycle in the UK is 4k miles per year.

Take this into account. I do 12k miles a year so I what would last your average rider three years, lasts me 12 months.

I expect to go through a pair of summer gloves every year for example.

My leathers are original bellstaff ones so will last for decades.

summer use gloves don't really last that long (<2 years @ 4k per year say) if you are doing track days, riding in adverse weather, the gloves have to take a fair bit of abuse and unfortunately do have a limited lifespan (although if they can be stitched up then go for it first, but perhaps buy another pair for when the inevitable happens.
