 Posted: 15:09 - 24 Mar 2012 Post subject: Why isn't there small tourer? |
 |
|
Decent tourers with relaxed upright position and decent wind protection are usually big and heavy like 1400GTR, BMW 1200RT & 1300GT, and they are usually very expensive!
I sometimes wonder if kawasaki makes 750GTR with Z750 engine, or Triumph makes some tourer with 800 engine they will sell well for whom wanting tourer and short of budget, or wanting lighter weight bike.
*Triumph tiger800 and TDM900 doesn't have enough wind protection as GTR, and they are dual purpose styling. Versys 1000 also doesn't have decent fairing, it looks smaller than TDM. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

Plenty body coverage (and you can add more if you like - well can get loads of accessories for the 650 anyway, like bigger screen, lower fairing [with foot covers] and wind deflectors for the hands). |
I forgot Deuville is now 700cc
£8,600 looks bargain price compared to £9,200 of Crossrunner. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

Thank you. If engine size itself won't affect the price that much(I felt it after I made above pic), it will be more pointless making such bike.
Z1000 and Z750 price difference comes from equipment difference too.
Large bike with lots of fairing with a small engine seems to be pointless ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

So a lightweight, relatively small mile muncher that offers luggage, good weather protection and all day long comfort but is still capable of pretending to be a sports bike if the mood takes you? Oh and it can't cost too much to either buy or run?

Sounds precisely like an Aprilia RST1000 Futura to me
More power than a VFR800 yet less weight, far less complexity and even the servicing is fairly cheap (until you need a rear wheel bearing ).
It's criminal that sales of them flopped so badly as they are brilliant bikes ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |
