Thought it would never happen Was having for a nice ride in the sun today when I came across a 2 laned junction. Saw the lights were red so skipped the queue of cars completely by using the turn right lane. As I came up to the car at the front, the lights changed and I began coming across in front of the first car at about 10-15mph . Driver coming the other way, (maybe didn't see me?) swung his car right in front of both lanes. I put on the front brake and killed my speed a bit before I ploughed into the left side of his car and flew onto his bonnet, cracking his windshield and wrecking the side of his car. Got up with pain in my left leg and had a nice helping of shock. No one helped me pick the bike up and get it off the road, but a guy came forward as a witness for my case

Bike:

Bent forks
Cracked side fairings
Scratches everywhere
Subframe twisted

Self:

Confidence down massively
Leg in pain (damage unsure, not broken though)
Generally a bit weak (I'm sure I'll find out more tomorrow morning!)

Right at the start of the sunny period

Had a nice SMIDSY last Saturday. Going along minding my own business, see a car waiting to pull into a side road. Get about 10 feet from him and suddenly he decides he has enough time or I have somehow vanished and pulls straight out, I plough into the side of him.

Luckily this all happened on my little 50.

Damage to me:
Bruised shoulder and arm
Right wrist a bit twisted
Bruised foot

Damage to bike:
couldn't care less

Took the road pitbike to the shops for cutters choice and liquitabs.

thought i'd see if i could back-it-in in the wet.........

Once again i'm left thinking that i really shouldn't be allowed to operate vehicles, due to being a total plonker.

Minimal damage all round tho PB laughs it off

Yes, I had a little spill on my Ninja a couple of months ago in the frost (yes, I stupidly took it out when I shouldn't have, so my fault).
I hit ice while breaking lightly behind stopping cars in front of me, and first lost the front wheel, and then the back went to.
I was ok, as I slid on my arse which has plenty of padding, and I had my leathers on (also didn't hit anything).
Sadly my bike didn't fair so well though, as per the pic:

Spill #26

On route to Bowness today, 2 feckin cyclists riding side by side taking up the whole road, went to go round but one of them moved out so i couldn't get past, I slammed my brakes on and clipped his wheel.

Nothing serious, he had a grazed knee and I'm absolutely fine.

Damage: Bent mirror, bent indicator and cracked fairing.

Guys wheel buckled few scrapes.

He asked me to pay for repair but, which i will, but i'm not even sure if its even my fault?

Not paying if it isn't!!

Just popping up the shop and I decide that I need to go up the high street.
I approach the junction indicated to go right, to do the turn and started to pull away the whole time I've done this manoeuvre a black aldi A3 is at the other junction I guess he's seen me as I go past him, he then ploughs strait into me.
I will give you one guess what he said ????
You guessed it SMIDSY.
I'm lying on the floor, and i surprised by the amount of people that came to my aid, the ambulance got there in less than 5 mins.
I was then examined as my shoulder felt like it popped in and out and my neck was hurting.
next thing I know is I'm being put in a neck brace and spinal board and blue lighted down to Poole A&E spent the night in there.
I then was discharged feeling soar and pissed off about the whole thing.
He has admitted liability.

Damage to bike.
Dents to fuel tank,
Damage to plastic fitting,
Scuffing to headlight,
Broken battery casing.

Damage to me.
very stiff and soar shoulder,
very stiff whip lash feeling neck,
and a lovely scrape graze down my shin

My insurance company has told me they will take care of it.
And I should have a courtesy bike here by the morning.

Well, recollections change.

Say, did you see the bit of the Highway Code above specifically suggesting treating a shoulder check as a warning that a cyclist may be about to pull out? It doesn't say "If a cyclist looks over their shoulder then they've definitely seen you, so go ahead and move where they looked," does it? Why's that then?

Obs fail by both parties, but it could certainly have been avoided by confident use of the other lane. As noted elsewhere, near-miss overtakes by bikes are all too common and usually totally unnecessary.

"the other lane", was it not clarified that she was using a single track concrete farm-style lane?

There is so little room to manouvre on typical country lanes that there's passing points for vehicles, rightly suggesting that 2abreast cyclists make it bordering impossible for a motorbike to pass.

Consider that motorcycles aren't quiet.
Consider that roads are notoriously used by vehicles.
Consider id a tractor had tried creeping past, would the driver be looking at a death by dangerous driving charge?

Consider the cyclist had reacted sensibly and stayed within his previous position and not colided with a bike; no fault would have been made so by changing his position without due consideration the biker has reacted to the best of their abilities and minorly clipped a cyclist. what would you road angels have done?
