So i got the bike this weekend, 10 plate. 1500 miles on. Spent all weekend riding her, and i have discovered a few things. If you need to know anything else to give an answer let me know Smile

1) the front break sounds like its grinding when used. (like a bit of dirt is stuck and making a grinding sound)

2) sometimes when pulling away the engine dies a little, is this the engine flooding? sometimes happens from 2nd to 3rd

3) i know its a heavy bike for a 125. But is there anything you can do to increase the acceleration without losing top speed?

Thanks Smile

1 > strip and clean the caliper, common issue on this.

2 > lift the tank off and see if the muppet has fitted some gash filter, also pull the front spark plug out and see what colour it is.

3 > No, the best way is to do your test. My GT125 (non R model) had an indicated 90+ GPS had it at 82mph down a hill with 2 people on it, had a straight through set of pipes with a scorpion end can, rejet and a K&N from an SV650.

once i get home from work ill have a look. doubt i'll be able to have a look at the engine until the weekend though.

Also how much do you think it would cost to take it to a garage and get it race tuned? if its a stupid amount ill just wait for more power until summer when i take my test Smile

Without even looking at prices, just wait, it won't be worth it tuning.

You wont get it race tuned.

The cheaper way would be to buy a 250cc engine and whack it in, you'd need to buy new chain/sprockets as its a 520 pitch rather than a 428.
You'd also want to grind the 250 badge off the side, and change the engine number...

Its a simple swap...not that I'm saying do it... Wink

That would suggest anyone raced them.
And that if they did, that it wasn't a series which restricted modifications so your 'race tune' may just be a stock bike Smile.

If you want more power in a 125, best bet would be to sell it and buy a 2 stroke.
You'll get a lot more power which will be more reliable than if you got the 4 stroke up anywhere close - also less weight and quite likely better handling and brakes.

You're onto your second 125 and haven't passed your tests yet?

You've brought this on yourself...

i brought this so i can get used to a heavier bike, and sports position... i will be doing my test in the summer, so feel free to chuck any more abuse my way, cause tbh, it really doesn't bother me at all.

Its not an overly heavy bike compared.

I didn't mind mine... but I'd seriously consider putting in for your test Smile

Listed as pretty heavy, but seems a complete waste of time when the best way would be to pass your test and get a bigger bike.

From what I've seen the GT125r isn't really that 'sporty'.
Could have stuck some weights and lower clip ons onto the YBR if that's what you wanted Smile.

Then don't. It only takes 20 minute to pass Mod 1 and an hour for Mod 2 and theory. They run 6 days a week. Claiming that you can't find the time to pass them is ridiculous.

Sorry, but no.
I've heard enough 125 4 strokess with loud exhausts - mostly they sound chavvy, though as a twin the GT isn't quite as bad as the singles which you'd think were just pit bikes.

Plenty of non-bike people will no doubt see your bike and think "big bike". Plenty of bike people will no doubt see you've got a heavy, big 10 plate 125 and think "tosser with too much money" Smile.

You can make excuses from now until the end of the world (this December, right?) but if you can ride a bike, then you can pass your tests. It's entirely up to you of course, but nothing looks good with L plates on it.
