 |
|
I suppose I can't expect anything different being almost 21 with only 1 years no claims, but daaaaamn.
Literally for TPO with any of the 600cc range it's at least £1800 a year.
The naked bikes at that cc range are a completley different story. Street triple for example is about £750 etc.
I'm not too fussed, and I don't want to jump onto something that powerful straight away anyway, but might do in 2-3 years time. I sense I won't get a reasonable deal on anything like that for at least 4 years though . Like I said, not that bothered just didn't expect it, there's plenty of great choice for years ahead around.
Is being 24, or 3 years no claims that big milestone etc? |

I don't think there's a magic age when it comes to insurance price dropping, there's too many other factors at play.
I've had my bike license for 8 years now and my insurance is up for renewal next month. I just ran a quote for my bike (ZRX1100) with no security listed, parked on the driveway in a Manchester postcode and it's come back at £190 TPF+T with full breakdown cover, EU riding and riding other bikes. I'm 25 now but I haven't paid more than £400 for bike insurance ever and I've got 8 years NCB to play with at this renewal. ____________________ Now: '00 Kawasaki ZRX1100R - Past: '84 Yamaha DT125, '89 Kawasaki KLR600, '97 Yamaha XJ600N

Mine's never been silly expensive. Certainly never as bas as these youths complain about.
Had a Mille at 19, that was £550 TPFT. Have a 954 at 23 and that's £500 TPFT. Not cheap, but certainly not daft money. ____________________ My Flickr |

Depends on the bike.
At 18, I passed my test, got a 1990 NC29 Honda CBR400, and insurance was £300~ for the year.
Between then, and when I turned 20, I had a few more Honda 400 sports bike, ranging from 1990 - 1995. All around the £300 mark.
Then I got a 2001 Suzuki TLR1000 when I was 20/21. And insurance was £350~.
Then I got a Bandit 1200, insured with no NCB because I had a smash on the TL. At only £330~
Then the YZF450, again, at around £300 for the year.
And now the Yamaha 98 R1, insured at £364 FC, with every type of cover available, helmet, leather, break down etc etc.
I think it depends on the bike.
When I was 19, I rang up to get a quote on an 02 R6, and the quote was over a grand.

Prices have gone up in the past few years though, so a £300 quote 3 years ago won't be that today ____________________ A2 Passed 18/6/10 |

Mines not been too bad. Had an 2000 R6 at 18. That was £550 TPTF. 2008 R6 at 19 was £850 TPFT and now 22 2010 Fireblade £800 with a VFR400 on the same policy TPTF.
I think on 600 & 1000cc sportbikes its highish but stays stable if you continue building your no claims. The quote for the R6 stayed the same when i turned 21 and couldnt belive that a newer fireblade were cheaper!
Insurance companys can be crackers at times
My mate (same age) pays £1800 for a fazer 6! Abit of shopping around makes a whole world of difference. ____________________ Speedfight 50 -> Honda NSR 125 -> Y reg YAMAHA YZF R6 -> 08 YAMAHA YZF R6 -> Honda CBR1000RR

£100 for my Hornet at 22
That is fresh of the comparison site too;
Seems they are only pushing up premiums for certain types of bike? ____________________ Will work for petrol
