Putting in the details of bikes I'm looking at getting after I pass my test, like you do, and suddenly, after getting £730 for a SV650, with the exact same details, I get £417 for a FZR 600!?!!? Gotta be a glitch or something right? Probably won't happen when I actually need a quote ____________________ Honda CBR600f sport

May not be that far off the mark at all to be honest, insurance pricing isn't always a straight line of correlation between performance and premium!
The SV is owned, pretty much always, by first time buyers, so I would guess it's statistics for accidents are pretty high, and if the statistics on the FZR are more favourable, then you may find that insurance companies see you as less of a risk on that.
My K7 750 worked out as one of those bikes when I bought it, was cheaper to insure than either the K5 750, or even the 600's from the same year, by quite a long way; I can only assume the reason for this was that it was less of a risk, statistically.
When you're close to actually buying, have a ring round, get lots of prices from lots of companies for all of the bikes that interest you, then ask them to send you copies of the quotes, these should be, if memory serves, valid for a month, unless they've found a way of wiggling out of this...
Or stick some very similar but not quite you (lives one door down, born a couple days after, different name) into a comparison website, see what comes up, then call the ones that seem competitive with your real details, if they try to give a higher price, give them your 'neighbour's' quote reference number and ask them to explain the difference! ____________________ McGee - "When I go to the mall and see all the high school girls, I have to have DO NOT TOUCH THE GIRLS written on my hand.
