I just went to change the oil on my goose, got underneath the bike had a look at the oil sump, tried to find a nut or plug to undo then all the oil should start draining out.. right? with me so far?

But there isnt one :O ?

How the feck do i drain my oil out then refill it with new stuff on my goose.

Its the 1st time ive had a 4Stroke, am i missing something?

Alex

Is the drain plug on the side of the engine - right down near the bottom but on the side of the casing?

Some bikes have the exhaust system underneath the engine so putting a drain plug there too isn't such a practical idea.

Just a question, but have you actually had a good look around the engine for something that might be what you're looking for? Rolling Eyes

I suspect you're just undoing the wrong bolt.

The sump bolt on my bros is on the side of the bike, as it is designed to be drained when on the side stand.

The goose has a DR350 engine, on the DR itself most of the oil was kept in the frame, I'd "imagine" the goose also has most of the oil in the frame, therefore there should be 2 drain plugs, one at the front of the frame near the bottom (it'll probably drain in a bit of an arc so make sure you have something ready to catch the oil!!) then there should be another one on the left side of the engine at the very bottom, either under it completely or on the left side a bit. You might have some sort of sump guard on blocking vision of it?

Not really sure how the goose has incorporated the DR engine but it should be similar to the above which is pretty much how you change the oil on the DR... I'm sure bonny/scotty or someone will be along to confirm or tell you the correct method soon

You do have a manual don't you? If as YamsR6 says, it is oil in frame, this means it is probably a dry-sump engine. They can involve a bit more fiddling than just draining the old oil and bunging new stuff in. For example, you have to prime the oil pump on my dry sump bike by undoing a screw and letting the air bleed out of the housing when the engine first starts.

Ahem ill tell you your all wrong here. The dr350 used the frame as the sump, the goose has a pretty huge oil sump under the crankcase. Right infront of the kickstand pivot is a little bolt (its very very thick tho). Take that out using a socket, (make sure you have a huge bucket underneath cos there is alot) and presto. Also do the oil filter. Makes it such a better bike

Generally you replace an oil filter rather than clean it Wink
