Very pretty little RS, now you know why people advise against getting first bikes like this with tasty paint jobs Thumbs Up that will set you back hundreds to replace those fairings, I reckon over £200 for the large panel!

You'd get all your levers etc for about 30 quid max, as for the fairing it could cost up to the guts of £300. Unlucky mate.

Yep. It will sting.

You say it was a 5mph crash - my guess is you'll want the fairing repaired, not replaced. If you're lucky you might get a new side/front fairing on ebay for a good price, but trust me when I say new parts from a dealer are too expensive. I think it's £370 something just for the side, I forget.

There's a site around which offers replacement OEM decals for pretty much all bikes so what you'll probably want to do is get your local bodyshop place to fix up and respray both bits and then add the decals yourself, or ask them to. I'll see if I can find it if you're interested.

Depending on the extent of the damage, this'll probably set you back £250+

There's a good reason why my next bike will be a naked 600. Confused

Well. To replace the decals alone is gonna be over £100 because you have to buy the set for both fairings. Then to get the fairing itself filled and re-sprayed will be another hundred or so. The levers and what not wont be that much. So you came off doing 5mph around a corner on gravel? 5mph around a corner doesn't require all that much lean. Did you give it some throttle in first gear and slip on the gravel or something?

it was a country road leading to my mates straight off a main road, so i was braking when i hit the gravel, i think it was about 5mph, somewhere between 5 and 10. it wasnt a smooth road surface, and i came down quite hard. the fairing is beyond repairable Crying or Very sad

i hope i can find something....somewhere....

Don't bother replacing the slightly scuffed fairings, it's a learners bike it will get dropped and crashed, so if you replace the fairings and anything else which gets slightly damaged each time you're going to need lots of money.

I doubt it. Is it snapped? If so, it can be plastic welded but that'll be a bit more expensive. Pics?

Ouch! Gravel can be a real bitch at times, especially at low speeds.

Gravel is dodgy stuff. Best trying to always stay straight up and only use rear brake if any brake at all.. My mate has a gravel drive way and it starts off up hill. My RS snakes around all over the place getting up it. Bummer man. I hate it when a bike loses it's new look

I can tell you now that a new fairing costs £316.57 and the inner foam costs £19.57 - I have my damage estimate in front of me. Only buy this when you sell the bike, as Sod's Law says you'll only damage the new one when you put it on. Don't know about 2nd hand ones though.

Wouldn't bother changing them when you come to sell the bike either, everyone in the second hand market for a learners bike is quite aware of the fact it is very very likely to get dropped at least once, thus doesn't really want one with 100% mint fairings, as they don't want to have to suffer the financial costs when it gets dropped.

Keep it the way it is, the damage you describe doesn't sound bad.

I wouldn't change the fairing at the moment because if you do it again ............

At 5mph the damage will not be beyond repairable or even close to being beyond repairable, unless you rode the bike off a cliff at 5mph. You can replace the fairings to have it looking as new again (because the damage from 5mph will be soooo serious Razz) but as to if it is actually worth doing (or even considering doing) will depend on firstly how much money you have and then on how much sense you have. Thumbs Up

I feel your pain Mad

I think I was going about 60 and lost it on a corner. Luckily the bike just slid. I did the flipping and rolling breaking my collar bone:(

I'm looking for good places for a new right brake hanger, peg, lever and right mirror.. not many on ebay right now.

Rest I can just sand down and respray.

Did your fairing actully snap into two pieces when dropped at about 5mph, or does it have a (small) crack in it?

Try and find someone you are in the know with to do a bit of plastic welding, or fibreglass it yourself.

theres a bit between the fairing and the frame, like a little bar, kind of reinforcing it, and that came through the fairing when i dropped it. also, the indicator snapped off the fairing Sad got some photos

Bloody hell!! Sorry mate that is bad, and you were only going 5mph! I would replace it but there is a huge risk you will just drop it again. Hope it works out. Thumbs Up
