I love it. Means you can let your mind wander while whoever is riding has to concentrate while doing 100+ Laughing

After doing 600+ miles to France and back I can safely say I have tried it and no, I do not enjoy it.

My legs killed me. Fazer pillion pegs are awful.

I am not a girl so of course not! However I love being passenger in a sidecar, hanging out to keep it down is fun as is tucking in on the straights. I wanna ride monkey on grasstrack.

Nah it sucks. I like to look ahead so end up tryna peer around the rider most of the time, and staring into the back of a helmet aint much fun!

Nopes, hate being a passenger. Doesn't matter if it has 2 or 4 wheels I have to be the pilot.

I do not like the gay bitch seat,
Not on a bike, not on a trike,
Not on a bus, I'd make such a fuss,
Not on a train, not on a plane,
Not in a car, be it near or far.

With me it's all about taking charge of my own destiny.
Whereas you sound like a Control Freak. Shocked

I think it stems from how i ride.
Most people would "frown" upon how I filter etc, In particular the prat on the much newer yellow sports bike with the larger lump that was holding me up on the M6 northbound on friday 5pm-ish.

Anyways, Cos I know I ride with a death wish sometimes I know that I am in control, but I cant pass it over to someone else.
Then again, my "self preservation" thingy is really strong and I wouldnt make a move where the dead:not dead odds aint in my favour.

I trust most of my mates, they are good riders. But they don't ride like me and I will always think that they will never be as "in control" of their bike as I am of mine.

Does that waffle make any sense?

Never propally propaly propably properly... fucking alcohol!.. anyway never properly ridden pillion myself. Only once and ended up steering the bike for the rider.

My wife seems to enjoy it, however I ride fully concious of a pillion and try and make everything as smooth as can possibly be. I believe it's the only way to gain trust and try and introduce new people to bikes. Took my old man out the other day and took it easy... he eventually got bored and told me to hoon it.... his face was ashen when he took his lid off. Mr. Green

It's chuffing terrifying. I hate being completely out of control of the bike rather than just slightly out of control.

Last time was my first. 140mph on the back of my instructor's CBR1000F back in 1992.

Won't go on the back and won't carry anybody myself either.

Forever alone.

As a long serving car salesman, I've ridden shotgun on many a test drive, with other people sometimes doing their level best to kill me, so I can handle anything that's thrown at me in a car.

I've been on the back of a bike maybe 2 or 3 times, the last was over 20 years ago and I vowed I would never do it again.

I would rather walk.

I like it somedays it's like being on a rollercoaster when you can sit back and trust the guy riding and enjoy the ride but I bought a bike off a guy who took me pillion before I rode it and hated it because I was more concerned about how he was riding and what he was doing that I wouldn't to enjoy it...

I absolutely hate it, I hate being a passenger in a car too. On the other hand my ex loved ring on the back.

I think it's all about motorcycle experience. If you ride you make a shit pillion, if you've not ridden then your blind to the dangers and make a good pillion.

Trust depends on how much you know.

Prime example... I loved going on holiday by plane until I started watching/reading what I could about planes. E.g. Seconds from disaster, I learned that it takes 2 bit's of tape that are placed on every altitude/airspeed censor during technical checks on the ground to fuck up the computer systems and down the plane killing everyone on board. This is due to the plane not knowing the air speed or the altitude.

Ignorance is indeed bliss.

On a bike that is designed for a pillion, it is ok, you can kinda relax and let the rider do the work.

On my friends CBR-RR he's taken me a few times and bloody hell that is hard work. The pillion seat is a good few inches above the riders, add to that I'm a good few inches taller than him, it means from my solar plexus upwards is exposed to all the wind, and he doesn't do slow! So it's like a 1**-mph wind hitting my upper body.

Also the pegs on the CBR are in a bad place, so when bracing yourself during acceleration or braking for more than a few seconds, your legs start to burn. After an hour of spirited riding, you can literally barely walk, the next day its a serious struggle to go up or down stairs.

That sounds rather bollocks to me.

I've never flown an aircraft with digital controls, but on analog, you would notice the lack of display before you took off, even if you didn't check the sensors yourself (I assume commercial airliners are too big for the pilot to check everything himself before takeoff).

On manually flown aircraft, you gun it down the runway, and only pitch up once you reach a certain airspeed. If the airspeed sensor is showing erroneous data or zero or whatever (look out of the window), you wouldn't even get off the ground, you don't just guess when to pitch.

I can't see the computer system doing any differently, it's not just going to go mental and do random stuff when the inputs are zeroed. The multiple inputs are averaged and checked, if one says 40 knots and the other says 150, it'd just fail self diagnostic checks, surely.

Anyway.. on riding pillion. I think it comes down to what the guy in control is doing, when it comes to confidence. Riding down the motorway or around town conservatively, fine. Gunning it down country roads trying to get knee down with you on the back.. I'd be shitting myself.

Hey im no expert. All I know is "seconds from disaster" showed a crash that was caused by sello-tape. Not pilot pre flight checks i was on about, but ground crew who cover the sensor with tape while sorting other parts out but forgot to take the tape on and killed everyone!!

Only ever ridden as pillion once, for about 10 minutes thru 30-40mph areas on the morning of my CBT.
Had a lift with the instructor to get to the site where the CBT was taking place.

So my own pillion experience is minimal, but I guess it was OK. Although I'm not so sure I'd still be OK with it after a number of years of riding.
