I absolutely positively hate it.
Only really been a pillion when I "tested " my last but one bike.
Bloke wouldn't let me loose on my own but offered a test ride as a pillion.
After 2 minutes I was ready to get off and walk back to his house.
How those women tolerate being sat on the "Bird Perch" while the bikes are being hooned around crazy ass roads at crazy ass speeds I do not know. |

I love it. Means you can let your mind wander while whoever is riding has to concentrate while doing 100+ |

I do not like the gay bitch seat,
Not on a bike, not on a trike,
Not on a bus, I'd make such a fuss,
Not on a train, not on a plane,
Not in a car, be it near or far. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Never propally propaly propably properly... fucking alcohol!.. anyway never properly ridden pillion myself. Only once and ended up steering the bike for the rider.
My wife seems to enjoy it, however I ride fully concious of a pillion and try and make everything as smooth as can possibly be. I believe it's the only way to gain trust and try and introduce new people to bikes. Took my old man out the other day and took it easy... he eventually got bored and told me to hoon it.... his face was ashen when he took his lid off. ____________________ Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. |

As a long serving car salesman, I've ridden shotgun on many a test drive, with other people sometimes doing their level best to kill me, so I can handle anything that's thrown at me in a car.
I've been on the back of a bike maybe 2 or 3 times, the last was over 20 years ago and I vowed I would never do it again.
I would rather walk. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

That sounds rather bollocks to me.
I've never flown an aircraft with digital controls, but on analog, you would notice the lack of display before you took off, even if you didn't check the sensors yourself (I assume commercial airliners are too big for the pilot to check everything himself before takeoff).
On manually flown aircraft, you gun it down the runway, and only pitch up once you reach a certain airspeed. If the airspeed sensor is showing erroneous data or zero or whatever (look out of the window), you wouldn't even get off the ground, you don't just guess when to pitch.
I can't see the computer system doing any differently, it's not just going to go mental and do random stuff when the inputs are zeroed. The multiple inputs are averaged and checked, if one says 40 knots and the other says 150, it'd just fail self diagnostic checks, surely.
Anyway.. on riding pillion. I think it comes down to what the guy in control is doing, when it comes to confidence. Riding down the motorway or around town conservatively, fine. Gunning it down country roads trying to get knee down with you on the back.. I'd be shitting myself. |

Hey im no expert. All I know is "seconds from disaster" showed a crash that was caused by sello-tape. Not pilot pre flight checks i was on about, but ground crew who cover the sensor with tape while sorting other parts out but forgot to take the tape on and killed everyone!! ____________________ Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. |

Only ever ridden as pillion once, for about 10 minutes thru 30-40mph areas on the morning of my CBT.
Had a lift with the instructor to get to the site where the CBT was taking place.
So my own pillion experience is minimal, but I guess it was OK. Although I'm not so sure I'd still be OK with it after a number of years of riding. ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N
