I think its more likely scrotes, but cost over a £1000 to restore.

Edit:we did have a drive round the estate looking where they take bikes, but no joy

Value is all relative; to ME its worth around £1300 in hard cash it's taken to buy it, and bits to renovate it, plus nine months of blood-sweat-and-tears to make it what it is. And only I could possibly appreciate all that 'value' riding a bike I had hand built...

Its a reletively rare bike; its a very early mono-shock 'Enduro' with two-model year only tubular swing-arm, and one model year only 'flat' side-panels. Replica Decals are one-off's, and Yellow is a rare model colour in the UK. While the bike sports VERY many 'unique' features some of which are detailed in the build-post:-

DIRTY TREATS: Air-cooled, 2T, Yamaha ‘Enduro’ Renovation

Most bikes are usually worth more broken for spares, and that one, yeah, there are plenty of bits of almost unobtanium that could fetch a pretty penny.... I know, I searched long and hard for many of them and I had to find the pretty pennies to get hold of them to complete build! But stripped and sold, probably only fetch a fraction of what I have spent!

Hard to tell; whether kids for kicks or pro for profit; but rather galling that they went STRAIGHT for that bike, under it's cover, (They left the cover!) alarmed, in a row of half a dozen. Didn't touch any other cover, or touch anything else in the garden.

If any-one has any leads of info on the theft or whereabouts of this bike, please contact Warwickshire Police

Fingers crossed for you, fingers smashed for them. I know it hurts when you invest yourself into something personal and someone comes and screws with it.

Certainly sounds like you were scoped out though. I notice you have a blog and other stuff. Possibly worth revising how much information you have publicly displayed Thumbs Up

How the fuck would I know!

If I'd been watching, d'y'think they'd've got so far!

Police asked same question

Well they could have used Voodo... a helicopter, maybe? Perhaps they came through the sewers, and took it away bit by bit!

All I know it was parked by my back-door, on Friday afternoon, and NOT parked by my back door on Saturday night!

Spotted something 'wrong' when I was looking out of the kitchen window waiting for the kettle to boil and thought "Hang on, that cover is pink".... cover on the custard tart was blue.... I was looking at SPACE where the tart HAD been at Snowie's bike parked behind it.

Was locked and alarmed, so gawd knows. Unless battery was dead and alarm didn't go off. Hasn't been started for ten days and battery is tiny, and possibly 'low' on charge from testing all the 'lectrics for the MOT it was going to have soon as I got a new exhaust gasket!

That was all that was stopping me ride it.

I had ordered a gasket set and the exhaust gasket was 40mm... but when I went to fit the pipe, was too small... couldn't swap it, so used it and hoped for the best... but after getting it to fire up, was 'blowing' so wouldn't pass test and I needed to track down a 46mm gasket... was going to order it tomorrow when I get paid! Not much point now, really.

Main thing bothering me ATM is whether I am going to get grief from the insurance co, trying to de-value it, as it wasn't 'Road-worthy'.... and potential arguments over having a policy less than a month (Haven't had a bike policy in my name for five years) and making a claim on it, for a bike that's never been ridden!

Have come in from working on Smiler's bike.... I keep hearing two-strokes and wanting to go racing off wherever the winds coming from to see if its my bike!

I'm really in a BLUGH place.... one of the reasons I am dissabled is depression. Fixing up these little bikes was supposed to be something to help me feel 'useful' again, and able to DO STUFF, and rebuilding THIS one, going back to where I started twenty odd years ago, building a tight little lightweight, with real 'feel-good' factor, that was easy to manage.

I have three Super-Dreams on the stops, to 'do', one half way through renovation, as well as Smiler's bike that I was fixing for him, and am DESPERATELY trying to find motivation to finish...

Because RIGHT now..... I just feel like "Whats the fucking POINT!" tidying up my tools, sticking the half finished Super-Dream on e-bay as a basket case, the two un-started ones as 'Spares or Repairs', slapping another advert for the 750 as likewise, sticking the boxes of VF1000 bits and all the left over super-dream bits in a skip.... and IF I get anything out the insurance company, buying a fucking widescreen TV,. going back on the zombie pills and watching Jeramie Kyle & home improvement shows until they commit me to an institution!

But the 'Never Say Die' in me keeps rearing, and I have had a trawl through e-bay and auto-trader, looking for whats on offer for what the Tart was insured for, trying to find some 'inspiration'...

Not the bike I built... not the 'satisfaction' of starting with a box of scrap and bringing something useless, (a bit like me) back from the half dead..... but at least 'something'......

Looked at a Hornet 6... didn't 'buzz' me... concluded it was no more interesting than my CB750, with a lot more to potentially go wrong!

Looked at a ZZR11... a battle-cruiser like my old VF.... could not get 'enthused'.

Looked at a Cagiva Mito.... nope... thought of the two-stroke 'ting' just made me shudder and think what MY bike is 'tinging'¬

RD350YPVS.... THIS is where my head is... I looked at THE CLASSIC two-stroke hooligan's machine... and though "Yeah... it was exiting, maybe twenty five years ago"

I looked at a couple of Fire-Blades..... and just could NOT find anything that made me go, "Yeah! Why NOT"

I looked at a few of XR650's, a couple of SLR's and a Dominator.... which made me ponder for a while, until the thought "WHY would you want a two-wheel Tractor" dismissed it.

I actually looked at a list of BMW air-Head boxers and though "Hmmmm! Now, then" and had fewest negative thoughts about them!

THAT is how, pissed off I am....

BUYING a bike, is NOT the kind of biking I wanted. And looking at ready-to-ride offerings... I get the nagging thunk in the back of my head.... "Bits to overhaul the 750's brakes is in the box of bits under the stairs with the new clutch.... why dont you go sit in the kitchen & play with pistons & seals?"

So I go out, look at the old-dawg, see Smilers Super-Dream in the way.... and then observe the rust on the frame and the fur on the engine, and think.... "That would take more than a few days and a new pair of tyres!" and loose all motivation again!

Then I wonder WHAT IF... they find my Custard-Tart? What state will it be in? what would I have to do to it? Would I REALLY want it back?

I dont know.....

We can only deal with what we have in front of us, and MY BIKE is NOT in front of me any-more.

Maybe I ought to be resigned to YET another season without a 'rider'... end of the day its only a 'toy' to me.... lets get Snowie through her tests.... lets get stuck into another one of these Super-Dreams and see what will be...

And on the bright side?

At LEAST it wasn't my irreplacable 'cota! THAT would have been a travesty.... had that bike a life-time, and NOTHING could replace that one!

Oh.. and Smiler's bike has run continually for a whole 20minutes without breaking!

surely you could provide insurance company with proof of condition with the thread you did on here? surely they would read that and think its just about ready for a mot and is road worthy.

That's really gutting, especially after putting all that work into it. Here's hoping it'll be recovered, or failing that, a decent payout comes your way.

Does sound awfully like at least a semi-planned job Confused. Even if it was just the local scrotes, seems likely they knew what they were after.

You don't need me to tell you to keep an eye out on ebay for bits of it turning up. Some thieves can be surprisingly dumb in that regard.
