 |
|
My son is about to turn 17 and Im wanting to get him a 125. 2 months ago I was getting quotes for around £450 tpft. today i spotted a gp100 for a reasonable amount and thought id check insurance costs (expecting cheaper than 125). on compare the market i only got one company willing to quote and that was for £1500 fully comp and tpft £1100 plus!! what is going on? how can it more than double in 2 months? I'll never afford to get him onto two wheels at this rate
Has anyone had any success in getting reasonable rates lately?? |

I'm in the same boat for my lad. lessons would be zero cost, bike or car would be under £500, insurance
So he is still on the bus. ____________________ Famous last words of Humpty Dumpty. " Stop pushing me "

Well, first up, a GP100 isn't a 125, and he can't pass his standard test on it. Start with quotes on YBR125, CG125, EN125 or similar. Go TPO and consider listing an Almax chain on it - it'll bring the premium down even for TPO. More fool them. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Not being funny, but why the hell would you need fully comp or
tpft on a bike that's worth the sum of feck all?
On either the excess will be in excess of 300 quid if your lucky, the
loading that will happen to his premiums will be horrendous at that
age.
Go third party only, if the bike brakes, pay to get it fixed, its bound to
be cheaper than paying the excess, if he bins it, pay to get it fixed.
And I can assure you, one of the above two things WILL happen sooner
rather than later, anybody that tells you they didn't, is quite frankly
lying, everybody bins their first bike..
Tpft or fully comp on a sub 500 quid bike, commonsense is alive an
well. |

Try Lexham out.
I'm paying 374 for the year on my honda cbf250.
Got my license in Febuary of this year, so I think thats a pretty decent price to pay |
