Fenda extenda's are also very helpful, reduces the chance of the apparently common flooding of the front spark plug from the front wheel spraying it.
I never had this on mine cause I had my extenda
Like above, Cam chain tensioner, brake pins, and all that stuff, common bits really, and of course, all the normal requirements of buying a bike

Literally as said, but the engine can be quite "mechanical" sounding anyway so don't worry about a few noises.
I'd say just worry about the normal stuff, there arn't really any common traits associated with the SV except that cam chain, and possible wetting of front spark plug (had an issue once or twice when I owned it and ridden all year).
Goodluck . |

Just check for a fenda extenda, and the general finish. Check the drive chain as well as the cam chain. |

,,SV - what to look for'' I'd say look for another bike. I think it's just not worth it. Many of these 650s are very cheap here in Czech rep. due to damaged engine. SVs are not reliable, in general. Also, don't know how about you, but I find it boring, friend of mine has 03' SV1000S he paid 2500GBP and I think it has not that value, I mean Fun / Price. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Just got back from seeing it, decided to buy it!
Its in great condition (its the fully faired sv650s, looks sportier imo, and not a mark on them - no scrapes, scratches, paint chips etc.), reasonably low mileage at 17k, mechanically and electrically sound, went for a long ride on it, did traffic and country roads and couldnt find a fault, its also got a beowolf exhaust which sounds nice and throaty!
The only slight irk I had with it was after the ride, when I got back to his place, I left the engine running for 5 or so minutes to check things like the cct (cheers for that info btw), and it was all good on that front, but then I sat on it again and kicked it into gear just to check the clutch, bite etc. then when I went to put it back into neutral it was pretty stiff and I could only manage it by either giving it a few revs or by turning the engine off first, any ideas what that could be? It was fine whilst I was riding it, just happened after it was still for a few minutes.
Managed to knock the price down a bit due to it needing a service and new rear tyre in the near future
Also has 6 months T&T left on it, so shall be going back this Saturday to pick it up and ride it home |
