It does this every now and again and people keep saying it's probably me catching the lever but I know it's not me.

Today, was accelerating onto the motorway, got to about 60mph and the bike jumped into neutral (I think) well, it just reved like I had the clutch held in before knocking it back into gear. I wasn't in 1st either, was more like 3rd.

Not entirely sure what happened to be honest. The bike has a quick shifter if that makes any difference?

Probably 1 of Kawasaki's chocolate gear componetns mate. My G2 did it a few times and to my rememberance my C1H has done it once.

^^ Non had quickshifters.

Went out before and did it again but this time in 1st gear. So you think it's something in the gearbox?

My CBF jumps from 2nd back into neutral occasionally - I found out its because the gear wasn't engageing properly when I knocked it into place, I went over a bump and it would knock it out into the previous gear.

Possibly mate, I went out on the C1 earlier and booted it in every gear to see if I could tempt it to do it but it was all fine. If it's doing it in different gears are you defo giving it a right good click into gear?

Like already said can sometimes slip out if its not engaged properly. I did it a few times when I did Oulton Park trackday because i didn't engage it hard enough.

It's an 04 ZX10 C1H, don't know if there were any specific problems with that model, can't see anything on Google.

Is it possible the quickshifter has fucked up? Like it's come out of alignment or something or something loose?

It hasn't always done this, only been doing it of late.

Try removing the QS and see if it still happens?

My 2005 C1H 636 has done it without a QS though.

Hows your chain tension? I found my little H100a would do this occasionaly if the chain had to much slack.

My CBR125 did this. And to combat it; when changing gear, keep the pressure on the gear lever as you re-engage the clutch. The lever might move up a bit more, and thus it's fully in that gear.

I think it's to do with the pawl mechanism being sticky or something.

I managed to partly cure it by just taking off the lever, pawl cover etc and just greasing it all up so it could all move nice and freely.

HTH if it's relevent.

Take off the gearselector and give it a good clean, mine would refuse to into gear when it was too mucked up, sounds like yours is on the way to that, a good clean solved that.

I destroyed second and third gears on an rf900 once from slamming it into those gears while wheelieing.

Didn't take long at all for it to happen.
Answer was rebuild gearbox or sell.

Is the quickshifter allowing the gear lever to settle in its original position?

This.

Fairly sure CG125's are exactly the same as ZX10Rs.

Hornet does it from time to time, just a false neutral, sometimes followed by the a noise similar to that of engine-death, then followed by the gear you were actually looking for originally Laughing, mainly does it on hard acceleration with a pillion, so I put it down to chain tension.

My GSXR 600 SRAD jumped out of 2nd when accelerating hard - had to strip it down and replace a worn dog. This fixed it but it was a massive PITA and still cost me about £400 despite doing most of it myself.

I replaced an entire gearbox for less than that on my ZX9.

Well known one on those between fifth and sixth.

If it's actually jumping out of gear then it could be bent forks or a knackered drum, as said it could also just not be going in properly, so check all your linkages and stuff first.

Oh, oh dear Rolling Eyes, not a nice noise when you slam it back up into gear.
