So my mate recently got his cbt at a place that you can not fail out. Well anyway the night he got it I took him out and taught him how to use gears breaks clutch control and so on.

However he seems to have picked up on my attitude of parking and riding style.

Now I'm glad that he has got the confidence but going along a road, 30mph I slow down the car in front slows down my mate does not I beep he does not react and goes for the over take at the exact time that a speed camera is there.

I asked him later if he saw it and he said no, I think he is getting too big for his boots from watching my way of doing things.

Does anyone else get that with learners and how do you counteract it?

Sorry for long text.

Its.

Just let him get on with it, he will either have a slow speed off and learn
from that, or rack up enough points to lose his licence.

Either way he will learn.

You have to gently tell him to slow down, some people though i.e. my cousin there is NO telling, how he hasn't killed himself or someone else is a miracle.

To be honest though, if you're too retarded to see a speed camera you deserve a ticket.

Whatever you say to him will fall on deaf ears.
The Fail Fairy will find him soon enough and cast her magic spell, he'll probably listen to her.

If you are teaching someone something, its easier for them to copy what they see you doing than to listen to what you are saying - especially if there's a difference between the two.

If you want your mate to ride in a particular style, then adopt that style yourself whilst he is with you.

You already mentioned that he is picking-up on your bad habits so if you want to teach him to ride properly, start out by riding properly yourself - he will pick-up on that instead!

A few points on his licence should slow him down.

"I slow down the car in front slows down [for the speed camera]"

As you had to slow down for the speed camera then you were speeding in the first place? We all do it, but I wouldn't do it while taking a complete newbie out, he will copy your speeding and overtaking manoeuvres etc but he doesn't have the experience to pull it off like you do.

He should just be pottering around for the first few days after passing, sounds like he's a potential skingraft tbh.

Monkey see, monkey do.

It doesn't sound like you're teaching him anything useful - maybe just stop riding with him, let him make his own mistakes.

This. You houl be watching him and telling him where he's going wrong etc. Means he doesn't get pulled into "keeping up" either.

My mate teached me how to ride on a empty airport, and I still go there every spring before the season really starts, to re-get my confidence of riding back again after the winter break. There's even a small kart track, there's no better exercise, than racing on a kart track against time. Cool

He's gonna get tired and gain some experience how to manage the bike. I've never went flat-out home after this.
