hi my SV650s has a slow puncture on the rear tyre, is there any quick fix for this or does it require a trip to the garage?

is there something in the tyre, is it leaking from the valve or tyre beading, all require different actions to repair.

tyre repairers take a dim view of "cuts" a small round hole is ok not sure of the size but 4mm diameter comes to mind as max size, had a cut caused by a strip of steel on the bandit a few years back, not a long cut but was "beyond" repair cost me a new tyre.

You could also try and plug with a worm and see how it holds air. Short ride around the block and check.

You can't repair it, the whole bike has to be replaced or you void your warranty!

In that case, if the soapy water over the damage already mentioned doesn't produce bubbles of escaping air, try using a valve tool to remove the valve core, give it a clean and replace it. Pump the tyre back up, check the pressure after an hour and see if it still loses air.

Valve tools are either built into some metal valve caps or you can pick one up at Halfords for a few quid.

A small cut in the rubber isn't such a big deal but if it extends into the carcass then it most certainly is! Up-side is that it's rare for a significant cut to give a slow puncture, it's either flat or ready to go bang.
