Oh dear
If I was to take the panel thats near the kick start off what would I look for and do you know how much it'd cost around to get it repaired? |

Hi
It is not really that likely it has seized if the engine wasn't running at the time.
What bike is it?
My guess would be that the kickstart mechanism has jammed, locking the crank in position and also stopping the electric start working (as the crank cannot turn).
If you are feeling mechanically able I would remove the kickstart lever and then remove the engine cover (likely to release the gearbox oil) and examine the kickstart mechanism. My guess is that the kickstart acts on the clutch basket (if not an automatic clutch).
All the best

Hi acid zero, my friend has a moped and his engine seized and he took it to a garage and the repair cost about £160. If you are unfortunate and it turns out your engine is seized that gives you an idea of the cost of repair. But it is most probable your engine isnt seized and there is just a glitch somewhere. |

Yep, sounds to me like the kickstart mechanism has got itself in a tangle, taking it off and putting it back on again SHOULD fix it, at worst, you may have bent something in there.
Taking the sidecover off the engine should reveal what has happened, there is a fair chance various bits on the end of springs will fly out when you remove this cover. Given that you are a complete novice with a spanner (I assme) you may want to get some help with this, it is not a big job but could be fiddly...it is difficult to see something that has gone wrong if you don't know what it was supposed to look like in the first place. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I couldn't take a look at it if I wanted 1. The nuts are in hard to get to positions 2. I'm a complete noivice and the thought of fiddling with the engine quite frankly scares the cr@p out of me . I'll book it in with my local garage they'll come and pick it up for me and everything hopefully they don't try and say I need a brand new top end if it's just the kickstart bent or something.
Thanks for all your help guys I'll let you know how it goes. |
