Finally passed my das the hard part is done so now the fun begins! . sooooo happy i got it out the way and done and dusted
Going to spend a max 2k on a bike so have lots to pick from i likey the zx6r, sv650, firestorm, vfr lots and lots really. They all cost roughly about the same insurance wise except the sv650 which is ALOT cheaper however while i can afford the extra monies for the insurance I am trying to justify the extra, are the other 3 twice as good as the sv650 i wonder.
anyways i passed yay

would you say the zzr would be better (more fun ect) than the sv650? i quite like the pointy one. For some reason the bandit and hornet is nearly as much to insure as the zx6r. and for some reason a R6 is 1800 a year....third party ____________________ As light travels faster than sound is that why people seem bright until they speak? |

Grats on passing!
Just remember to keep a level head! It's very exciting when you have the prospect of a new bike in front of you! But just because you can LEGALLY ride anything you want, doesn't necessary mean you HAVE to jump on the biggest, most powerful bike you can find
Don't plunge headlong onto the first bike that catches you eye, take your time and sit on everything you can find until you find that one that really works for you!
Grats again! You've got a lot of fun ahead of you!

What sort of bike do you want? I settled on my Hornet after trying and/or sitting on about 20 bikes, from 400 sports bikes to 500 commuters and 600 nakeds - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for quite a number of reasons. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

Well I like all sorts really my mates are going ahhhh get a sports bike it only goes as fast as u want but thinking bit more along the lines of a vfr 800 or firestorm or thunder ace. Maybe I'm thinking to big.
If I was going to get a sport bike I'd get something like a thundercat cos the cheap and won't hurt to much if I drop it not that I intend to for some reason a bandit or Hornet is 200 quid less to insure than a zx6r. Now I'm thinking ah sod it il pay the extra for the sporty sexy one but I'm in no rush to get a bike. I have a hairdryer of a car(1.2 corsa hehe) ____________________ As light travels faster than sound is that why people seem bright until they speak? |

A Fazer fugly?
I suppose it's horses for courses, the main thing that made me want to test ride my Fazer was it's looks. ____________________ 1998 Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer

Get yourself test riding a few.Don't rush in like I did.
I regretted my XJ600 within a day of getting it.I know looks are important image wise,But get what you feel the most comfortable on.
I'm 45 so image doesn't matter to me.But the handling of a Fazer and the acceleration to me is fantastic. |
I find this strange, as one of the things I really like about the divvys are they have very neutral predictable handling, and adequate power with a comfy seating position. Coupled with the price, I'd say they are a very good starter bike. For example I found the earlier hornets to be a bit funny handling, and the fazer to be underwhelming and a little uncomfortable, as well as the triangle nose being ugly. Compared to a divvy it might have been a bit faster, but overall relatively slow in acceleration terms. IIRC the one I rode didn't have a particularly revvy top end, and it didn't feel anything like the r6 it's derived from.
Everyone has different opinions though, I chose to get yet another rf600 over much newer bikes based on comfort, and mid level speed. The price helps a lot as I'm not one to spend a lot on vehicles (I could afford and test rode an 848 for example, it was wonderful but I couldn't see myself using that much more of it than I would with an old spaceship)
To the OP, anything you get now will feel like a rocket compared to a 125 or a 500 commuter. I would check out the fz1s, they are fairly quick but are pretty forgiving, also semi naked as said is better for the inevitable drop at standstill or lowside on some wet leaves your first winter. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |
