Although i agree with the above, how about some constructive tips -
Money-wise. Why not make a list of all your outgoings each month, take note of your income and then divide it up between the weeks before next pay day. Mark off all the essentials, food etc, and then set aside an amount you can just 'throw away'. It may not stop you spending your money, but it will make you feel more in control of it all, and at least you'll have a record of where it all went.
Alternatively, set up a new account with an automatic direct debit each pay day. Could be as little as £20 going into it each month, but it'll soon start to grow.
Procrastination - I'm the king of this shit, seriously. My day job sees me having daily deadlines or work, and i'm just about sticking to them. The easiest way i've found is to make a list of the things you need to do, and break these things down to small tasks. Then you can cross them off one by one. You'll see/feel a sense of achievement and it'll spur you on. If you work at a computer, check out www.teuxdeux.com - very simply To-Do style list site.
Laziness - Also king of this. I find that if i get up and go to the gym, get out of bed at least, and make sure i'm doing something i feel much better. I also find after a week of going to the gym i have more energy and more motivation to get up and do something with my time. I haven't been to the gym this week and it's pissing me off, so next week i need to get back into the routine.
Umm, i probably have more advice, but this'll do for now. ____________________ Current bike: ZX6R J1

Mmm, I'll definitely take you up on that drink sometime AL- Could do with getting out of the house.
Good idea with the whole writing down and working out, I like maths so should help me a little there.
I try to get out, bike has no MOT, cars clutch went and I need to return the Monster tomorrow so I'll be back to hoping, thats adding to stress central!
I had a savings which transfered £100 a month, that was a bit high but reduced to £40, which I started taking back out anyway to pay for petrol...so its kinda stopped being transferred. Like I said, shit with money like that. |

You need to stop giving a shit about inconsequential crap.
If you are becoming lazy and procrastinating I'd hazard it is because you are bored shitless with your current line of employ. No idea what you do for a living, but if you are skint AND unfulfilled then I'd consider leaving it for something more fruitful.
As for becoming a short tempered, arrogant and cynical dick, it happens to the best of us . The world is full of self serving troglodytes and pandering to their opinion isn't going to help anybody. |

Im the tits at procrastinating! but I find that if I keep an achievable overall goal of where I want to be in the next 1/2 years in sight then I can muster the motivation.
For me, it's an occupation specific goal that will improve my overall income and general wellbeing. Currently an electrician that fucks about in council houses doing remedial works and testing - job is mind numbing and not my idea of engineering that I want to progress in.
I want to get either a job on the national
Grid or with siemens as a turbine tech.
Therefore I have focused on getting as many qualifications as I can e.I. CompEx, 2391 etc.
I know it dosnt make alot of sense to you, but all I'm trying to say is try and focus on an achievable goal, it will give you the motivation and drive. Try not to get hung up on the little stuff. ____________________ Current Bikes - BMW S1000RR ‘17 & KTM 690 SMC-R ‘12 |

If it helps I am in an EXTREMELY similar situation by the sounds of it.
I'm going back to college to re-study (public services really doesn't get you that far, even if it's the highest level), but you seem happy at work so I'm not going to suggest that, the only thing I will say, is that enjoying the job is equally as important as the pay IMO, infact, if I got a job which paid a tad less than mine, but was far better, as long as it covered the bills, i'd take it.
Considering the amount of time we spend at work, it's important to enjoy it to a level.
I'd also recommend exercise, it's proven stress relief, and you feel a bit free-er when you go for a run, well I do at least. Not to mention it does your self confidence the world of good when you start seeing improvements, and it starts raining between womens legs . But seriously, it will make you more confident, and hopefully less arrogant, if that's how you feel you're becoming (I feel the same at times). Maybe also take a moment of your day to do something which will benefit someone else, a perfect example would be stopping to help a broken down biker, I feel good when I can successfully get someone going again, yes it doesn't happen every day, but you get the gist.
Another way my counsellor told me when I was in it was to write the things that are getting you down on paper, list them or whatever works for you, then, rip up, burn, shred, whatever to the paper, apparently its some mental stuff, meant to help you 'let go' of the short term stresses, and remember, they are Short term, they will end, and things will pick up.
My dad has a bit of paper on his fridge that says 'everything will be alright in the end, if its not alright, its not the end'
I'd also recommend going to watch the Avengers, as the final leg of the road to happiness .
HTH, and think positive

You have to be joking or really, really inexperienced. Dear god, please never let me have to go back to the private sector! Multimillionaires maybe not (through work alone, but useful contacts are something else entirely and these are yours at high level public sector work...), but the most 'comfortable' people I know are public sector all the way. The work/life balance thing? Again, public sector utterly shits on the real world! Have you worked out there? Noticed the lack of pension? The near halved holiday time? Lack of rights? Fuck that
edit; checked profile and you're 19 apparently. So yeah, really. really inexperienced. No offense meant at all although given the differences in our ages, public service may mean different things! ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!
