OK some went a while ago, but none of these are listed by manufacturers in 125cc spec anymore:

Suzuki Marauder
Suzuki Intruder
Honda Shadow
Kawasaki Eliminator
Yamaha Dragstar
Yamaha Virago

What are those of us with tassle fetishes, larger than average backsides, bad backs or good taste going to do?

Buy Chinese appears to be the only option.

Go go gadget flame-proof suit.

Laughing

Brace for impact.

Back on topic, they are around - I know a few people with 125 cruisers... there is a company called AJS (British, I believe) and they make a cruiser / lowrider. It looks pretty mean for a 125 actually.

Good luck finding anything new and Chinese branded even. Plenty of 125s, but in larger bikes you've really only got the Jinlun and Lifan/Skygo 250s and the Lifan 400.

As usual though, all the importers seem to have gone bust, except for (nobody laugh) Zing Bikes, who might sell you a "Zing Storm" aka the Lifan LF400, a Virago 400 (downsleeved 535) copybike, for £3899.

Cruisers just aren't popular, and the chaps who do ride them are old and have the money to spend on big, expensive bikes.

AJS was a classic British bike company. However, long since dead in the real sense of bike maker. The name only lives on and used on Chinese imports really

We continue the AJS ethos with a range of small and medium sized motorcycles which are designed to be eye catching, fun, economical and exceptional good value...

Just depends on your definition of popular. Everyone doesn't want to be a power ranger lookalike. Also cruisers are handy if you happen to be on the short side or have any injuries where a sit up and beg or lay on and crouch riding position isn't suitable. Like to think I wouldn't knock anyone for wanting to get onto 2 wheels regardless of bike type.

Best bet is a 2nd hand although be prepared to look hard to find a good one.

I think he meant this definition:

https://dictionary.reference.com/browse/popular

But, I suppose if you redefine popular to mean 'black, chrome and suitable for parking outside the Blue Oyster' then Roger is completely wrong as it's quite obvious cruisers are very popular given that definition.

I'm 5'6" with a 29" inside leg. GPZ 500 is absolutely fine for me. Also, most proper bikes can be easily and cheaply lowered for far less than the premium price of a cruiser.

If people want to fag it up on stupid style-over-substance bikes that are rubbish on UK roads, more power to 'em, I say.

If people stopped buying Chinese then maybe the 'big four' would find a market for small cruisers and maybe even 250/400's

Eh? The Chinese branded 250s and 400 didn't appear until after the small capacity Jap cruisers had already been withdrawn.

I don't dispute that fact but I would have thought that there was an, albeit small, market for all styles of machine under 600. They're great for the daily slog, cheap to run and insure - there are no sensible machines that fit the bill anymore - commuting on a Mexican built Honda CG125 is just not the same. 400's can also make for a lairy ride on British B roads (or Devon's A roads!).
As a GPZ 500 rider (Rogerborg) I don't have to tell you the bonuses of riding a machine that doesn't have 100+ horses drinking fuel like it's going out of fashion!

they have decided to stop production of the small capacity 125cc cruiser style motorcycles for good reason, kids aged around 17 years old, who are likely to be buying 125's and stepping onto the biking ladder are quite impressionable - therefor allowing them access to a poofter-ped may indeed lead to terminal poofterism or 'the gay' to be politically correct.

Interesting - wasn't there earlier! May still be some UK stock - dealer told me it had been discontinued.

Regardless of the 'gay' or 'tassles' argument, some people are more comfortable on a cruiser style bike.

The 'k9' in the web address may give it away - implies (if I've got Suzuki's nomenclature correct) that it's a 2009 model. May be that they're no longer importing it, but there's some leftover stock in the system they want to get rid of.

I like it.

I have a Suzuki GZ125, as I have just gone back to bikes. Cool

I can't wait to pass my test and get a larger cruiser.

I get goose pimples just thinking of all the gay sex I can have and how I can ham it up knowing that I have just spent loads of dosh on something to satisfy my mid life crisis, on a bike that nobody likes. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Then again perhaps I am straight and just like the aesthetics and ride of a cruiser type bike. Rolling Eyes Question Question Question Question

No, it's definitely the bummer thing. Sorry. Sad

Hmm, I've forgotten about the Hyosungs. I wonder how well they sell. Thinking

Shame, I had the Intruder 125 for my first bike and absolutely loved it to bits. Couldn't do more than 50 up a hill mind, but I blame the 125 part and not the cruiser part.

Looked much bigger than a 125 and even attracted some positive attention...until I started the engine Crying or Very sad
