i dont really like the colours very much though, and im going to see another aprilia AF1 on sunday as well which is the same price apart from its about 15000 miles,

the aprilia looks better, but i thought the insurance for a TDR would be cheaper but ive been looking around and it is just the same as a tzr 125

i thought the tdr would win on insurance but if they are the same i would rather have the AF1

If the 125 wheelies half as well as the TDR250, sod the AF1, just go for it. Never tried the little one but the 250 is a riot. Thumbs Up

It's basically a dt125r but supermoto, i had a go on one once and it was great fun, much better if it has the YPVS system but no problem to get hold of.

to be honest i thought it would be cheaper insurance or something because according to the used bike guide scale thingy for insurance:

tzr, mito,rs etc are all in about group 7 : £800 for me TPFT

i thought it would have been about group 5 or 4 but if it is the same engine as the tzr it would be the same

If both are respectable between an Aprilia AF1 and a Yamaha TDR125, i would rather have the aprilia anyday

err YPVS??

Yes it just gives it more torque below 7,000RPM as 2 strokes can struggle a bit and it also gives it a very nice boost of power after 7,000RPM.

I would buy the TDR125, give it a respray so it doesn't look like a raging homosexual bike and have some fun on it CoolRazz Something different compared to the usual race reps and it looks in better condition than that AF1 or whatever it was Razz

I have a '95 TDR 125 and other than the fact that it keeps breaking down I really like it. ( I think that the breaking down is due to my meddling rather than any problem with the model). However, as the only other bike I have ridden has been a Honda CG I can't comment on it in relation to other bikes. I find the bike to be quite big, especially for a 125 and at 6 foot I don't feel like I am riding a mini moto which I seemed to with the CG. The position is quite upright which is nice round town as you get a good view, and the half fairing gives you a bit of protection on the open road. The bike seems to handle nicely and appears to accelerate fairly quickly. The most I have had out of it so far is 70 mph as mine is still restricted. It is possible to derestrict it by fitting an aftermarket exhaust (Arrow I think) and rotating the power valve. Apparently this gives it a better top end at the expense of low down power. From what I gather it has the same engine as a DT, so if you find any information about tuning a DT then it is likely to apply to a TDR as well. Overall I am really happy with my TDR, it's not a sporty race rep, and if that is what you are after then there are other bikes that will fit the bill better. However, as a generally very fun all rounder it's great.

unless i can find another insurance company for cheap insurance i might have to steer clear of these, as my insurance company who i would transfer it from will only do 3party only, as it is on some sort of black list

Hanson and Roberts offered me a good price as well:

Yeh Simon, i thought that an XR125 was much cheaper to insure than a CBR on TPFT, oh how wrong i was Confused. Trailies and off-roaders are much more expensive to steal because of their desirability? Hmm, if i were to boost a 125, i'd nick an RS now, wouldn't you? (not that you'd think about it anyway). Try motorcycle direct - they have a specific yamaha line and can get u TPO for around 300 quid, even cheaper if you already have 1 year NCB. My XR policy i had with the Motorcycle direct/honda line was 440 quid, no ncb, garaged, live in london, commuting use, 4000 miles. So i'd recommend doing a google to find the number or a 118 118 thingy to get it. But trailies are far more practical, not to mention more comfortable than the faster and more appealing race rep 2T 125's, because i've tried my XR against an NSR and i still stuck with my XR!

I'll also recommend motorcycle direct, they quoted me about £50 under what everyone else was.
