I'll start again.
If anyone IS local to Stockport and fancies a ride out, then you WILL be made more than welcome at mine. Tea or coffee will be provided and with the odd chocy bicy.
As it quite clearly states in the tittle, I am LOOKING to go pillion. However this IS NOT a condition ! And regarding my condition :- I CAN stand and transfer onto a bike, I DO NOT black out OR fall asleep, I simply close my eyes for 2 to 3 seconds ! I have a MATE, yes I DO have some ! Who used to own a ZX9R and regularly take me out. However he has now bought a single seated Ducati. And NOT because he was sick of giving me a pillion ride.
I hope that I ONLY get suitable replies this time ????????? ____________________ I have had a life changing off.

I'd take you pillion if you were close enough I'm on a 125 though
C'mon guys - The man is only looking for a rideout, and seeing as he can't ride anymore, then why not have him on the back? You get a cuppa out of it, after all? ____________________ CBT Passed - 22 / 10 / 11 >> Theory Passed - 16 / 02 / 2012 >> Mod 1 Passed - 07 / 03 / 2012 >> Mod 2 Passed - 18 / 05 / 2012. |

TBH Simon I think the main issue here is that you are asking people you don't know and more importantly who don't know you, to trust that you will remain safe on the back of their machines and not potentially cause an incident. You have said you struggle to talk, communication both ways is important IMO.
Fair play you may not be an issue, but when we are talking of our own safety and our machines it should be no massive surprise that most are wary. Personally I try to take as few people on with me as possible and my experience with new pillions has never been a particularly good one over the years - it takes time and a few rides to develop a feeling for what the rider is going to do and the pillion to react accordingly. Until then you leave things open for all manner of inconsistent riding.
If I were closer to Stockport I may consider offering you a quick ride but I dont get out your way so good luck! ____________________ https://bikechatter.net

Just like in the original thread.
I think it is selfish of the OP to be honest.
He bangs on about road safety and the dangers of biking yet it's ok to ask someone to take responsibility for him and take him out on the bike for a ride.
Most of us have given a lift to a rubbish pillion. They dont pay attention, they slip all over the seat, they move, they dont watch whats happening up ahead. It's a very difficult ride.
"eyes close totally involuntary, every minute. And I then struggle for a further 5 or 10 seconds 2 re-open them"
IMHO, having someone with that "condition" alone on the back of a bike is far more dangerous than an able bodied rubbish pillion.
Throw the other crippileness movement impairments in to the mix and you have a whole different kettle of fish.
FWIW this thread has gone the same way as every other thread, on every other forum where simon has asked the same question.
The "moral junkies" jump in and want to help him out, want to be all nice etc etc. Then people start to think about the logistics of it and realise it is a bad and dangerous idea.
My only request is that the moral junkies, the ones who are about to hit me up with bad karma, take a minute, re-read this post and think about what i have said.
@Simon, if you are still craving the speed and thrill I would suggest checking out the "experience days" where you get taken round a track in a rally/super/sports/racing car by a professional driver.
If something was to happen you would be on a closed track with medical services to hand and not on a public road with no medical services within 15mins distance.
Peace out

There are a couple of nice people out there that would probably do it, but the way you respond to people, even the ones who aren't being dicks is fairly arrogant and annoying
Be polite and friendly and more er patient/less defeatist and people will be more happy to help
Reposting wont help you, nor will "ok I wont bother"
BCF is not the place to come for sympathy, you're better off going on britains got talent and spouting a sob story there.
Good luck in getting better. Focus on that instead of getting on sports bikes! ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |
