Yes on a 125. On a 50, no, PROVIDING YOU PASSED A CBT WITHIN 2 YEARS OF PASSING THE FULL CAR LICENSE!! Thats what im on. I know its cheating, but is 1000 miles a year worth anything else?

So if I pass my Full driving licence tomorrow and my CBT is still valid i can legally drive a 50cc moped without L plates without ever taking my CBT again. Will i need to take my CBT certificate with me when i do my car test or will it like automatically change over. Thought that only applied when you passed your car test years ago as my mum is allowed to drive a moped without L plates.

No you won't need to take the cbt certificate with you to your car test.

If you pass your car test, your cbt will automatically validate your car license to ride a 50cc moped without having to do another cbt for a moped.

For a 125 though, the cbt will only last 2 years, so if you wanted to keep riding a 125 after it expired, you would have to do another cbt or pass your bike test before.

Ok that all makes sense. Finally got my head around it. Looks like im going to be selling my ybr very soon then and get a lovely restricted 50cc moped Smile

The only reason i would want to keep riding a bike as I will be sharing a car with the GF and if she needs the car i wont be able to get to work.

Thanks for the help.

I do plan on still taking my full motorbike licence soon but a bit short on money at the moment with all these driving lessons so its nice to know i will still be able to drive a moped.

I assumed i would. I only have like 1 month left on my CBT anyways so fingers crossed that i pass. Smile

The amount of people i know that ride without a CBT that i know is insane and they never got caught.

I wouldnt continue to ride my 125 anyways. Ill stick to a 50cc. Only reason i got a 125 was because i use to drive on A roads but will take the car now on long journeys.

Can't imagine why you would, unless they asked you if you had a car license when you took out the bike policy. Even then, I wouldn't bother, they'll only Bad Touch you in the wallet for an admin fee.

Good luck with the test, try not to filter. Wink

im curious eor just a bit thick but,i always thought that you could ride a 50 without l plates if you passes your full car test before 2001.
