I am stripping paint from an engine using nitromors, wire brush and wet dry sand paper and think I have stripped it enough. However, there are some areas that are a little tarnished. This is shifting a little bit with autosol metal polish. Do I need to completely remove the tarnished areas before painting. I want a decent job done and time is a luxury I have ( but no money to spend on professionals unfortunately.)
The pictures are what I hope to begin painting on, is it okay ? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Mick

Pretty much looks good to go.

Make sure you do a few light layers of metal primer first.

Remember its better to do many light coats that one heavy one Thumbs Up

the second picture looks like it has some deep scratches in it. you might need to put several layers of primer and keep sanding it down to make it smooth again... but then I've only brush painted my engine

Aluminium needs etching primer to make a strong bond between it and the final paint.

If you don't there is a high chance all your hard work will have been wasted as your new paint layers will quickly flake off.
