So my bike has been stolen... fantastic.

The cunts have thrown a breezeblock through my sister's car window as well.

Called the police and now *I* have to go find CCTV of it? Is this such an unimportant crime I have to start going through CCTV these days?

"Just to let you know if we find it we'll charge a recovery fee"

So that's my insurance going up this year if I don't find it. And even if I do it'll be fucked.

H601 WNW Honda CBR600, if anyone spots anything, Leeds area.

So that's the last month of work effectively nullified.

EDIT: Police have found it, been recovered by a third party company. £150 recovery fee, and £20 a day storage fee.

Might just have to let this one go...

Damn man! Thats like 2 or 3 bikes stolen this month so far! I hope you get it back mate! Just remember to lock it up next time.

I know I say this in all stolen bike threads, but can you provide a picture? Reg number? any special or uniquie features?

Yeah I had a disc lock on it. I came in at like 2am last night as well so I didn't really expect someone to steal it.

Also they've taken the fuel lines off the other three bikes in the driveway.

Unique features - it was smashed up at the front... quite distinctive in that regard, from the idiot who hit me.

And no it's not my first bike to be stolen.[/code]

An odd mix of theft and vandalism. Any chance you think you'll find some CCTV footage?

Why would it go up...surely you aren't going to claim for a 1991 crashed bike? The payout would outweigh the overall insurance over a few years.

It is shit to have a bike nicked, I've had 4 go walkies, 1 returned. I've never claimed for them as running up quotes made it not worth it.

Agree, never claim on your insurance unless you absolutely HAVE to.

Yeah I wasn't planning on claiming.

Do I have to report it to my insurance or anything? Not said anything yet.

Reg is H601 WNW. Red Honda CBR600, smashed front fairing.

Report to police, you can tell your insurers it has been stolen but you must state in big loud words I DO NOT WISH TO CLAIM FOR IT.

Horsforth.

I wonder if they will think of coming back for the other bikes... that would be interesting.

Maybe taken the fuel line off, to ensure they are still there when they come back, rather than being moved somewhere??

I hope so, I'll be letting both Rottweilers loose on them if so.

EDIT:
Or to nick fuel from them? Checked the levels? Or worse, torch them? If they arent in use, immobilise them. Take bits off, wheels/tank etc. If they are in use, buy big security.

Debatable. If you do then you'll have to declare a "loss" in future years even if you don't make a claim.

However, you do need to limit their liability. They'll still be liable for making 3rd party payouts until the policy is cancelled (and some thieving scrote's thieving pillion is a 3rd party), so the other option is to just tell them to cancel it and just say (truthfully) "No longer have the bike".

Police have found it, been recovered by a third party company. £150 recovery fee, and £20 a day storage fee.

Might just have to let this one go...

Why let it go? 170 quid to get a bike back? Better than having to pay 1,500 for a new bike.

Am I the only person who thinks it is criminal that the police can hold your bike to ransom until you pay them for their services?
