Gilera DNA 50 won't start! Help please

I bought my Gilera DNA 50cc couple of days ago, its a 03 plate and the bike started first time through the kick start when I was buying it from the previous owner. When I got home with the bike it wouldn't start and has been like this since now and when trying to start the bike with the button it made a weak noise so I replaced the battery with a new one and now it sounds like it's about to start but doesn't.

Also I noticed that there's a black pipe sticking out not connected to anything which leads to the fuel tank.

I have no experience in fixing bikes so I don't know where the carb, spark plug or things like that are located so please help in a detailed way, thank you.

Does the bike have a fuel tap? If not apply a vacuum to the hose not connected to anything (you can use a syringe). If fuel goes into the carb then that spare hose should be connected somewhere either on the carb or inlet manifold.

You need to ckeck the fuel tap. easy enough to check. there are two pipes from the bottom of the fuel tank. disconnect the fuel pipe (it wont leak) then follow the other pipe to the carb and disconnect it. when you suck on this tube hard (oo-er missus) fuel slow flow out of the tank, and stop when you stop.

btw, how many miles has it done?

the Gilera is the same as the zip, that pipe needs changing, it must be air tight, it connects from the inlet (outlet of the carb) to the fuelcock (fuel tap). The gilera (like the zip and many others) use a vacuum automatic petrol tap, when negative pressure is applied to the tap, fuel flows, hence no fuel, no vacuum. ie fuel/air being drawn into the engine, I bet if you undue the screw at the bottom of the carb (the float bowl) you find nothing in there....

Get a new pipe (you can buy similar called tygon in model aircraft/boat shops its used as petrol fuel tubing on models and will do fine. Connect it to the fuelcock, suck for a second and check if fuel now flows down the yellow feed pipe to the carb. Keep the vacuum going till fuel runs out of the overflow from the carb bowl (you will see it dripping on the floor), now put the pipe onto the manifold inlet (carb outlet) and try starting it.

Took it to a garage and turns out it was the fuel pump, the guy didn't replace it he just fixed it for me. It was working fine for a couple of hours but then died out again! Now it won't start just like before, would I need to replace the fuel pump or just the fuel pipe?

Also, the oil needs changing and I was wondering if I would be able to use 'Tesco petrol mineral motor oil 10w/40', if not then which type of oil? (oil and fuel tank are seperate).

if it is a two stroke (sounds like as it has a fuel and an oil tank) then you need to use two stroke oil and not four stroke in that tank.

They definitely havve a pump. The fuel tank is lower than the carb. Replace pump, job done. Does it work if you brim the tank with fuel? Just a thought.

Also, fail. Fuel will not cone out of the overflow.if you suck on the tap pipe, that's what the needlevalve stops happening.

I'm having a similar problem with mine Iv tryed replacement lines and tryed self vacuuming still no joy it will start and run for all ov 30seconds but as soon as you touch the throttle it dies out. Any advice would be really helpful
