Bit of an odd one... for the BCF BBQ I want to bring along my road legal mini bike for the lols obviously.

I'm not riding a 140cc there and back.

I am riding a 600 there and can happily sort a trailer (read make one bodge tastic) but can I put this bike on that trailer? I can lift it with 1 hand so its fairly light and its quite small..

Any laws on this? It will be taxed/insured etc.

As far as I know, this (for a 1 wheel trailer):

  1. Motorcycles must exceed 125 cc
  2. The weight of the trailer and it’s load must not exceed 150 Kg or two thirds of the motorcycles unladen weight, whichever is lightest.
  3. The Motorcycle must be marked with it’s kerbside weight.
  4. The Motorcycle must be marked with it’s unladen weight.
  5. Maximum width of the trailer is one metre.
  6. Maximum length of the trailer is 2.5 metres, measured from the motorcycle rear wheel spindle to the rearmost part of the trailer.
  7. The UK speed limit is 60 mph on dual carriageways and motorways. Can't use 3rd lane on motorways.
  8. Lighting regulations are the same as other small trailers.

Can't see there being any restrictions on what you can take (well, other than controlled goods) so long as it fits inside of the weight/dimension limits, which the pit bike should easily do.

Just make sure you strap it down properly Laughing

Carried a minimoto on the back of my x11 once.
Was fairly secure.
I'll ride it there for you if you can't find another way. Don't mind the slowness.

I won't be able to tonight, next weekend more than likely though Thumbs Up Iain crashed yesterday so doubtful.

Fitting in a focus Thinking Possibly, I mean I got it fully built in the clio's boot folding the seats down.

Have you got road tyres on the pit bike?

I'd be tempted to attach it to the swingarm, lock the bars soldid and make it the trailer it's self.

If it's pretty light, you could also consider making a rack on putting it on the back of the bike - across the pillion seat maybe - as it's going to weigh a good chunk less than a pillion.
Make up a pad so it doesn't stick sharp bits in to your and you've got a nice back rest too Smile.

Check out "Delboy's Garage" on youtube. Dude is making his own Tow-hitch for his bike. There's a few "episodes" but they're interesting. He may end up making the trailer too. I think his youtube name is "moonfleet41."

Didn't someone bring a minimoto to a BCF karting event on his pillion seat once? My fuzzy brain says it might have been Gazdaman? It was the year loads of people didn't make it cos the M4 became an all-day carpark.........

Ah, err, yea me included didn't make it, so couldn't comment.

Wouldn't have been that year, but previously ste had a minimoto on the back of his ZX6R. However, even a small pit bike is a good bit bigger than a minimoto.

Haven't quoted pillions, can, grips or air filter. Shits given = 0 Laughing

It is quite possible to mount on the rear... I'll probably fit a bash plate on the pit, it has road tyres, it is quite possibly 100% legal Shocked Exhaust is loud though.

I'll consider taking it pillion... I'll trial run it first.

Regarding locking the bars, this could be a possibility but how much would it affect the handling? Obviously being sensible but like roundabouts etc?
