As the title, sold bike, current log book is missing and only have the new keeper's bit from the previous owner/logbook.

Can the new owner still tax it? While I desperately try in vain to find the current log book....... sigh... Crying or Very sad

FFS Dumball shut up when you don't know what you are talking about! Rolling Eyes

OP you can't tax the bike yourself if you have sold it!

You need to either find the old V5 or ring the DVLA and request a duplicate - they will charge you for this, I think it's about £24 at the moment.

Once you have the duplicate you need to send it straight back to them with the new keepers details on it and give him the new keeper supplement from the back page. HE can then go and tax it at a post office or dvla local office providing it is MOT'd and insured.

But he is right though? If you have the new keepers supplement you can tax it on that, though I assume you have already used that and it has the date of when you bought the bike?

Otherwise I think you're paying for a new log book and waiting for it to arrive, and then transfer it Thumbs Up

No! OP has the new keepers supplement from when HE bought the bike 4-5 years ago, there's no way he can use that to tax the bike.

Yes, I am aware, hence the bit in bold, you're creating an arguement out of nothing and trying to make dumball, as much of a tard as he is, look completely wrong and he isn't.

Pretty sure I taxed a car once with an old new keepers supplement, what is the worst that happens, they say no?

O/P have you got the letter that came through with regards to retaxing it, you can use the reference number off that.

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/motoring/owningavehicle/howtotaxyourvehicle/dg_069680

The new keepers supplement is valid for 2 months from the date of purchase at a post office or 13 months at a DVLA local office. Out of time in both counts in this case.

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_10034732

You can't tax online without the V5 or reminder.

Looks (see first link) that you can still download and fill in a V62 which is the application form for a V5 and take that to a DVLA office rather than waiting for a new one though. Can't use it at the post office any more though. Price of a replacement V5 is now £25.
