On the way home tonight in the heavy downpour on the A13 (London), I'm filtering from canning town towards Beckton at about 30mph as visability aint to good, notice another bike coming up quick behind me, obviously a quicker filterer than me so I find a gap, pull in and give him a wave to go past, as he passed me he then starts sticking his leg out and wiggling it, I take it this is a thank you but it really brought a smile to my face was chuckling to myself the rest of the way home, cheered me up no end after a crap dayat work..lol ____________________ Previously Known As A5tra_G

Safest way I suppose A bloke I ride with every now and then wiggles his right leg/foot about while over taking to say "it's safe to follow me/there's room for more" Had no idea what he was doing until I asked, but even then his idea of safe is different to mine on tight country roads ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Leg lifting/foot waggling is the norm in europe, and it seems to be getting more popular here too. They dont really do the nodding thing in France and i assume its the same in the rest of europe. ____________________ Current......Kawasaki ZZR1200 C2H and Kawasaki ZZR600 E7

I started leg waving after other bikes let me past due to having muffs on during winter. Safer than pulling hands out for a cheery wave, especially when filtering. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

Funny you say this, I've just been over to France, and when all the bikers overtake they stick their leg out to let the cars know they are coming back in.
At least I think thats what they are doing! Wonder why they don't just indicate?
P.s Some of the roads in France were jizz worthy..

A leg out means 'thanks' in France. ____________________ FZR400 (blown engine), ZXR750 (blown engine), ZX6R (accident), CBR600 which had engine issues after which I learned to change gear..., CBR900, CBR924 (stolen), CB600, CB1300 (everything blew up), BMW K1300GT (written off, hit from rear while stationary), Bandit 1250 for a couple of months, Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (nicked) and somewhere in there, I wrote off a Ducati 748 at Cadwell. |

Experienced this for the first time in Belgium.
Was strange seeing a line of bikes passing you sticking their leg out.
If someone is courteous as i pass, i usually raise my fingers off the bar as a sort of wave...i don’t find the leg thing comfortable. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.
