I have mod 2 tomorrow again for the 4th time, and am determined not to f*** it up again.

Any words of wisdom? before I blow £75 smackers.

Relax & listen to the examiner, you CAN ride a bike so just do it well. Good luck. Thumbs Up

Usual stuff...

Turn up in plenty of time so you start off relaxed.

Treat the examiner as a satnav.

Remember to cancel indicators - double click the switch each time.

Keep well back from the car in front - the most common reason for MOD2 fails apparently.

Keep an eye out for sneaky changes in speed limits, for example there's a route near Enfield where you go from 60mph down to 30mph in a village, no problems, but as you exit the village there's a loong stretch of open road and no speed signs, very easy to convince yourself you've missed the nsl sign and pin your way to failure, only realising as you clear a bend and there's the sign saying you can finally go up from 30 to 40mph.

Finally try not to collapse in a quivering heap when the examiner casually tells you that you've passed.

Doesn't matter where go go, as long as you go there safely.

What did you fail the previous 3 on?

First time

Too much caution on a roundabout/holding up traffic behind the examiner.
Some observations we not quite "there"

Second time

Being a twat.

Third time

Again too much caution on a busy mini roundabout.
Being a few MPH under each speed limit.

How is that even a minor? Unless you mean you were going 20 in a 30?

Do you need to do a life-saver when turning right at a mini roundabout? It's something I would never do IRL but do these examiners want it?

Because if you do less than the limit when conditions would reasonably allow you to do so then you're impeding the progress of following traffic, also a rear shunt is more likely.

Well it can't do any harm if time permits, but I'd be surprised if it was a minor.

Turning right on any roundabout do a left lifesaver before entry to the roundabout. More for multi-lane where someone can come inside you (ohh, err Embarassed , you know what I mean). Before exit roundabout another left lifesaver is a must. Good practice on all roundabouts except I was told treat mini ones as a junction turn (i.e. turning right indicate right with all the checks, no need to then indicate left before exit).

If you're having a lesson before your test check with instructor as they'll probably be more aware of what the local inspectors expect.

Bets of luck Thumbs Up

I was doing 25-30 in 30 zones and 45-50 in 50 zones.

+ one of the roundabouts was a mini one with an iland, I foolishly indicated right then left on exit straight on. it did feel a bit weird at first due to how quickly I needed indicate.

Quick last minute question.

On a large multi-lane roundabout left is always best? unless otherwise marked out on the road.

Thank's

Smile Ditto to the above replies, just remember, if you can't briskly walk ( not run ) across the roundabout before a vehicle would hit you then wait for the next opening, apart from that stay relaxed and do your shoulder checks, you can never do to many ( unless your looking like your watching tennis HaHa) and it looks like your making good observations, get up to NSL speed as quickly and SAFELY as you can, be carefull around schools ect, in 20mp zones 15 to18mp is plenty and be aware of your surroundings in there, good luck next time round and stay positive.. Thumbs Up

Get a good nights sleep before and make sure you have a proper brekkie on the day, none of that "I'm too nervous to eat shite". All the hard stuff is done, all you need to do now is ride around town for half an hour or so and it's job done.

Best follow road lane markings if you can see them in time (i.e. not covered by traffic).

Generally if going left or straight on use left. Right then use right lane and check your left inside for other vehicles.

Speedo readings, I know its best to be bang on the speed limit but I thought being a few mph under wouldn't hurt... turns out it did!

Almost all speedos read over, it's a question of how much. If yours said 25, the examiners could have been saying 22 or 23.

Do examiners have to have calibrated speedo (as one police bikes)?. If they do then maybe politely asking when last calibrated if there are any more speed queries.

Having said that examiner could be using sat nav as speed indication. Thinking several million dollars of satellites versus a couple of quids worth of wire.

Would like to know the answer to the examiner calibrated speedo though Thumbs Up

Don't go in there thinking "this is my 4th time, I've got to pass it this time", I felt like that on my car tests (I needed a fair few tests Embarassed ) and it'll just make you feel more pressured. It will happen when it happens, £75 seems a lot, but in the scheme of things it isn't. Enjoy the ride out, relax and see what happens, good luck Thumbs Up

It's not really relevant but I failed my theory twice before I passed, really frustrating...

All the best for tomorrow Wink
