CBT is booked for Monday, will progress on to DAS once I do my (2nd ) theory test as my first one expired!

Popped out and bought some kit to get started for Monday.
Helmet - BKS Stealth
Gloves - leather ones (can't remember!)
Jacket - RST Razor textile
Boots - Blytz

All in for just over £200 seemed reasonable!

I'll add some trousers when I get to MOD1 .

Looking forward to it, just hope the rain holds off!
Wish me luck Wink

Hiya i'm aslo a newbie, never been on a bike in my puff. I have a taster session on Tuesday then if I like it I will book my CBT for a.s.a.p.
My hubby plans on gettin a bike too ( he had a bike about 20 years ago) so we both bought some kit today. I got a scorpio helmet, held trouser and a held jacket, all in all about £400 , but had some money put aside for it.

I'm really nervouse about learning, and don't know if i'm going to take indevidual lessons or do an intensive, or both!

whats your plans?

Hoping to do the rest of my DAS fairly quickly, unless I realise I hate every minute of motorbikes!
It's been a long long held wish to at least hold a bike license, couldn't afford it for years and couldn't find time.

I'm hoping the CBT instructor will provide a decent assessment of my riding and let me know how much training I need.

We will see!

Good luck on your training!

Hmm.
I'm wondering Witt the chance of rain showers tomorrow, should I just go and get some textile trousers ready for the CBT tomorrow
Will I look a spoon in full gear? (I don't really care to be honest!)

Do you wear jeans/trousers UNDER textiles?

Sorry , I'm a bit clueless Wink

Ok, I went and bought some textile trousers that zip to the jacket.
Tried wearing with nothing underneath, having removed the thermal lining...umm sweaty is the word for it!
Tried it over jeans, seems much more comfortable !
Is this sensible?

Ta!

I've worn textiles over jeans before, but if it's a hot and humid day or you move about you will boil alive. Your morning will be spent pottering around a car park at not much above 10 mph anyway, so there's no breeze to cool you off.

I it looks like rain for the day take the textiles and you'll stay warm, comfy and dry. Jeans will be miserable if it chucks down. If it's due to be dry then whichever you prefer. And you'll look prepared, as long as they're not bright pink I wouldn't worry about what people think. You'll be wearing a yellow hi viz vest with a logo on anyway, which with Ls screams n00b Smile

Probably too late to sort out for tomorrow, but if you're finding textiles too sticky and sweaty with nothing worn underneath them, you can try a pair of wicking base layer bottoms. You're still going to get hot if it's warm and sunny but it will stop the sticky sweaty feel of the textile inners on your legs.

Yeah no chance to get stuff for tomorrow, but good pointer!
Will look into it affirm next stages!
I'm hoping that being outside will cool me down, rather than being in the bedroom fully dressed up (I can't help it, I look cool!)

My missus actually put the stuff on yesterday, was very funny Wink!

I was thinking that too. I bought textile trousers yesterday , but didn't try them on with my jeans. I tried them on with my jeans when I got home abs I was roasting . I wasn't sure if it was the norm to wear them over my jeans or not . My main concern when I was trying them on was that I didn't have camel toe!!!!!!!!

Laughing

Textiles are way too bulky for that ever to be a problem!

Hi just thought I'd add to your post. I pretty much wear textiles all year round except when its really hot and then I wear kevlar jeans. I wear thin running type shorts or 3/4 or full leggings under my textile trousers.

Good luck to both of you on your CBT's and training. Remember to relax and if you feel yourself getting tense do the funky chicken flap with your arms it helps.

Safe riding.

Passed CBT today, was raining ALL day!
Was very grateful for a full textile suit, kept me snug and dry while the others were soaked Wink

Instructor reckons I need 2 days to do MOD1, including the test.
This seems right as I was pretty rubbish at slow moving slalom,
I need more practise to feel confident, guess its cos I'm older than the average learner (36) and a bit more risk averse!

Thanks for the advice so far.

Wish I'd remembered the funky chicken flap!
I was too tense on the bike for parts of it, trying to remember all the actions.
Observe. Roll off. Front brake, back brake, clutch, change gear, foot down, signals, cancel signals, forget what gear you're in, remember what gear you're in, try not to fall off.

I'm sure I'll relax into it!
As I look back on the day I realise how much I enjoyed it Wink
