JC won't, you need to get in contact with your local "Babcock Enterprise" office (or similar) and see what they can offer, they get funding from some governmental pot but it's worth a chat with them to see if you have any options. |

Well I just spoke to the job centre - Basically because I am currently in employment they said no and hung up the phone. Tit farts.
I'm getting a loan from my Nan. Hopefully that will open a lot of doors for work, lots of jobs going but always asking for FLT certificates ____________________ My Bikes: Lifan Beat 125cc '11 -> Suzuki B120P '76 -> Suzuki EN 125-2A '08 -> Honda CG 125 '04 -> Honda CB600F Hornet '98 -> Kawasaki ZZR 600 '99 -> Kawasaki GPZ 500S '95 (Current)

Sucks, don't it? I don't earn enough money to start paying for my own training. I should be booking my course, which covers both reach and counterbalance, for £495 ____________________ My Bikes: Lifan Beat 125cc '11 -> Suzuki B120P '76 -> Suzuki EN 125-2A '08 -> Honda CG 125 '04 -> Honda CB600F Hornet '98 -> Kawasaki ZZR 600 '99 -> Kawasaki GPZ 500S '95 (Current)

King's Lynn is fucking miles away, course starts 0830 so that's me leaving around 0715  ____________________ My Bikes: Lifan Beat 125cc '11 -> Suzuki B120P '76 -> Suzuki EN 125-2A '08 -> Honda CG 125 '04 -> Honda CB600F Hornet '98 -> Kawasaki ZZR 600 '99 -> Kawasaki GPZ 500S '95 (Current)

JSA is crazy. When I was working offshore through an agency I was told to call up whenI got home and enter a claim. Two weeks later when due to go offshore again just to let them know. So every fortnight I had to sign on/off even though I saw it as my downtime because they wouldnt be able to backdate if the job fell through.
Well an extra 200 quid a month to me, for feck all. ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

If the client pays a higher hourly rate for flt drivers than general warehouse ops and the work is fairly long-term it's worth approaching the agency and asking if they will contribute.
Some will, some won't. They are unlikely to cover the whole cost but they may make a contribution. If they do, expect to sign a contract agreeing to pay them back if you leave before a certain amount of time has passed.
They may agree to pay for the course upfront and take the cost back out of your wages in small weekly instalments (with the whole remaining cost becoming payable if you leave), especially if they have any links to a local training outfit.
All agencies operate differently, most are absolute sharks and will shaft you (and the client) at every available opportunity, but every now and again you will come across a decent one who actually care about the temps that work for them (who are, after all, what pays the agency's bill!) and are willing to help you out.
Can't hurt to ask. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

This is where it gets difficult
The agency workers get paid less than the full time DHL workers. ALL the FLT drivers get paid the same as the other DHL workers, but again, If I do pay for my own course and they stick me in a reach truck my pay will not budge.
It just opens doors for me to work closer to home, all warehouse jobs in Peterborough ask for FLT ____________________ My Bikes: Lifan Beat 125cc '11 -> Suzuki B120P '76 -> Suzuki EN 125-2A '08 -> Honda CG 125 '04 -> Honda CB600F Hornet '98 -> Kawasaki ZZR 600 '99 -> Kawasaki GPZ 500S '95 (Current)

Well they may accept to pay for the course, advance and take the price returning out of your income in little every week installments with the whole staying price becoming due if you leave especially if they have any links to a regional coaching outfit. ____________________ Used reach trucks
