Urgh another "what 125 should I get thread"

Hi, looking for a 125 but there's so many out there I can't decide. It would mainly be for a bit of fun and not so much commuting. I don't mind either sport bike lookalikes or dirt bikes. It has to be geared. Also I don't want a bike that will depreciate too much so I'm thinking popular brands like Yamaha or Honda etc. Lastly, could you please tell me what the going prices are for bikes like the DT125 or the Honda CBR 125 or the yzf 125. My budget is under £1500.

The best/most popular two for learning are the Honda CG or the Yamaha YBR..

But you could get a decent second hand CBF/CBR in your price range, for sure

I paid £1200 for my XR 125 and theres plenty of these around at the moment.

Whilst not wanting to put you off the XR, bear in mind that trials styled bikes are sometimes more attractive to thieves who want to play off road. If you get one make sure you have somewhere safe to keep it.

If you want it for fun and not so much for commuting, how about an older two stroke?

If you can find a good one they are generally reliable, and they are also going up in value.

Something like an RD125, TZR, RG125 etc, or for a dirtbike, DT125, TS125 or KMX125..

I don't mind the newer bikes, but they seem to have lost something compared to the older 2 smokes.

I thought it was cheap at first, yet after looking at completed listings they seem to go for around £750/£800??
