The best/most popular two for learning are the Honda CG or the Yamaha YBR..

But you could get a decent second hand CBF/CBR in your price range, for sure

Whilst not wanting to put you off the XR, bear in mind that trials styled bikes are sometimes more attractive to thieves who want to play off road. If you get one make sure you have somewhere safe to keep it.

If you want it for fun and not so much for commuting, how about an older two stroke?

If you can find a good one they are generally reliable, and they are also going up in value.

Something like an RD125, TZR, RG125 etc, or for a dirtbike, DT125, TS125 or KMX125..

I don't mind the newer bikes, but they seem to have lost something compared to the older 2 smokes.

Anything Japanese branded Arrow £121.50 to pass your tests Arrow get a fun bike.

I enjoyed my 125, but they're frustratingly just short of the minimum that's comfortable for UK road use. Just a little more capacity makes all the difference.

It will be kept chained in my garage so that's fine Smile I've also found one that looks really reasonable. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-Honda-XR-125-L-with-spare-tank-panels-and-spare-seat-change-of-colours-/160833648632?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item25726eb7f8#ht_670wt_1195

I might ask to view it as it's close, is there anything I should look out for with these and what do you think of the price?

Sounds OK..

16k miles is a lot for the price he is asking Shocked

Mine was on 12k when I brought, 1 owner from new.

I'd go have a look at it, feel the exhaust when you arrive and start her up cold.

That rare owners manual must be worth about £400 though Laughing . I want one! Really are rare as fook.

Thumbs Up
