Unfortunately, in my experience (albeit limited), yes Be bloody awful
Took a GSX1400 for a spin - ended up quite literally - on a brand new set of tyres, when it was 'just' cold, not even wet, and the back stepped out nasty on light throttle first bend I got to.
Had to take my Sprint back on new MPR3's in light rain and didn't take any chances whatsoever, literally crawled it home. |

I just had a new BT45 fitted on the front of my GS.
Unlike the Pilot Sportys I had fitted on the CBR, this tyre actually seemed really sticky rather than slippery.
Took it for about a 60-80 mile ride once it was fitted. It didn't feel bad at all; it was actually very confident inspiring and I had no fears of taking the corners at high speeds. Some corners that I know were taken towards the 70-90 side of things. I did a large majority of the ride on unknown roads though, so my average corner speed was a lot lower because I couldn't see the whole corner or any dangers around the blind corner.
Also did probably 20-30 pillion miles with the new front. Feels much better than my old one already.
I hate cornering on the GS though. I think this bike may always have chicken strips unlike the CBR. ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

I had no choice other than to ride 140 miles on a brand spanking new set of BT023's with a pillion.
I took the bike out fora 5 mile ride before she got on the back and it was pissing down, to at least try and get some oil out of the tyre.
I was accelerating hard banked over and they never let go. Got back after the ride and no oil had come out.
I took it easy, but just had confidence and faith in the tyres, was smooth and stable and never had one slip. ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.

Had a new pair of bt45's fitted to the cb5 last Friday and I think they're a definite improvement on the 6 year old tyres that were on there before.
One noticeable difference is the front brake, which has given a lot more feel in the lever and the front end doesn't feel like a heavy block of plastic anymore.
Scrubbed them in over the weekend, which was lucky, as everyday this week has either been heavy rain or dense as fuck fog with greasy roads.
Hasn't been the best week of commuting tbh. |

100 miles to run a tyre in ?
there's no set of miles that runs them in, some people have 4000 miles on a tyre, yet the preserving layer (slippery part) is still 100% attached to the outer edges of the tyre because it;s never had a run in with the tarmac
running in a tyre involves removing the thin layer of preservative that is coated on the surface
this can be done in as little as one mile, if that, it just depends what type of corners you have access too ____________________ my rides ---->> https://img406.imageshack.us/img406/5051/ktmaudiducati2.jpg |

I think it varies by manufacturer, and whatever the PR guy fancies plucking out of his arse that morning.
Pirelli claim not to use it on anything other than the sidewalls but the front angel ST I had put on was oily all over whilst a rear I currently have in my garage is pretty much dry on the treaded part. I just stuck a set of PR2s on my bro's bike that were (and still are - hasn't been ridden) oily all over.

BT016's definitely had something one them. That's how I ended up on my arse.
Full throttle + a corner + 0.3 mile old tyres = A Bad time. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
