Hi

Me again, yeah I know Rolling Eyes
I'm too tall for my bike with my boots on, turning at full lock my leg gets trapped, not a problem unless i'm going slowly like uturns etc. in which I have to stick my knee out like a pratt or hang my leg off the pegs

What's my best option, somehow lowering the pegs, or getting new bars?

It's only a couple of inches I need, but it's enough that i'll lose balance when my leg gets trapped

I've had a quick look at my pegs, and don't really see how I can lower them, at least without having to move my gear selector pedal and rear brake

I can deal with it for now, but I fear for mod 1 it might prove an issue..

Also with being slightly too big for it holding the bike up is more awkward as my leg is bent rather than straight and holding it erect Embarassed

At the same time I don't want some faggy cruiser above my head bars, i'd rather have flats but that'd make it even worse I imagine Laughing

Any pointers??

A few options...
Arrow Have you tried standing on the pegs?
Arrow Different bike?
Arrow Sitting further back on the seat?
Arrow Different boots?

Arrow Yes, when going over speed bumps at speed mostly, but how does that help?
Arrow No. Can't afford.
Arrow Yes, I slip forward when I brake or my arms feel too straight. I'm a T-rex.
Arrow Was fine in trainers, not shelling out another £100 for some boots, they only raise me up a couple of inches but it's enough to make it dodgy

Adjustable rear-sets will let you move the pegs back/foward/up/down, but generally used for racing to get better ground clearance, so tend to be higher than normal anyway..

You dont mention which bike.

Stop spending money on it, pass your tests, buy a physically larger bike that can accommodate your size. Persevere until then. Thumbs Up

Ok, rear-sets aint going to be an option then..lol

Is the suspension adjustable? would it be feasable to raise the rear ride height, thus effectively lowering the pegs?

i had the same on mine, i'm 'only' 6' 2" normally but i have crazily long legs. you're rarely gonna have to go full lock in the test (i didn't), i found that i just shifted my foot on the pegs so that my toe/balls of feet were on the peg rather than the middle of the boot. brought my knees a bit lower and made the riding position a bit more comfy.

Get a bigger bike.

On both my old ped and 125, my lanky structure was only emphasized by the fact I was riding such small bikes.

Now I've got the cb5, I look much more 'normal' on it, due to the fact it's a bigger bike and the foot pegs are further back, so my knees are lower down on the tank.

I don't think I could ride a 125 again for daily use.
Had a go on my mates 125 and I thought the footpeg was the gear lever. Laughing

Its not exactly the biggest 125 you can get is it now.

pretty much this. a 125 is not going to accommodate the lankiest of lanks.. save money, do full test, get proper bike that'll give you more leg room.

not really much you can do to it unfortunately

Unfortunately being 6ft 6, bikes are never going to be designed for someone that tall.

You are always going to be fitting yourself into an ill fitting shoes so to speak.

Best thing you can do is slot yourself onto the tallest bike you can find and avoid sportsbikes.

Id love to see what you look like on a 125 though Wink

Ive seen a couple of people 6ft2-4 literately FOLD themselves onto a 400, which is quite funny.

I've got my theory booked and will be passing the tests before too long but moneys a bit tight as i'm in the process of moving out

Just wondered if there was an easy tweak or if I could just move the pegs down some how
Suppose not Thumbs Down

Ape hangers can fuck off, i'd rather chop my legs off Laughing

Btw what bigger bikes are out there that wont eat fuel like a cunt? I really don't want to be spending shit tons on fuel Razz

all bikes are good on fuel, wait till you start driving a car Wink.

I consider my gixxer to be excellent on fuel Razz.
I couldnt grumble about my SP1 either, known for being poor on fuel.

When you drive an RX8 (16mpg average) or an 350z (24mpg av) any bikes good.

adventure bikes are probably what's gonna be your bag, i know everyone says its ugly but ive always liked the Ducati Multistrada 1100.

varadero xl 125 would do as a 125 but your doing your test soon so not much point getting another bike.

Agreed, I did look at the varadero (and the hyosung thing) when I was buying the 125 but it only came up at either extreme mileage or price, they seem to fetch a premium and I was on a tight budget, I bought my helmet with the last £50 in my bank account B)

Plus my YBR was a bargain i thought Thumbs Up
The YBR on my CBT was also too small and the instructor kept saying it was too small for me as I fumbled stopping at lights, but I was uber noob then, it's really not much of a problem most the time unless i'm pulling out of work car park or somethign and have to turn sharp and slow, then it grabs my leg without me expecting it and goofs me

But i'm making it a habit to lower my knee now Rolling Eyes Razz
