Just moved house, its all great apart from the location of the mancave!

Have to bring my CBR 600 up and down these steep bastards to get access !! Confused https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/pooley_99/steps.jpg

So i got this ramp which kind of does the job (easy into the shed) but its a bit sketchy up the steep steps..

Especially when the ground is wet.

So the really dodgy bit is in the middle you can see the smooth metal - i bolted the two ramps together - and the smooth aluminium is really hard to get any grip on the back wheel going up the steep steps.
Sooo was thinking i could wrap the ramps in some kind of chicken wire or rubber type material so the wheel can stick better...
anyone have any ideas for a good material Im a bit stumped thought chicken wire at first but then thought wouldnt really help and something rubber based might be better. Question Idea

Can you not brick a proper ramp in there? Like up one side of the steps.

Scaff' board with thin strips of wood screwed to it width ways to aid traction, two holes drilled through the bottom to allow two tent pegs to be staked through to stop it moving... Thumbs Up

skateboard tape or grip tape on the smooth bits but I would be tempted to fill in the one side of the steps (or both sides) with a concrete slope

Grip tape could be the way!

If you intend using anything to improve the grip, the key bit is the bond between the ramp and the grippy bit.

From experience, just wrapping mesh around the ramp will not be enough. I made a timber ramp, using decking boards as the surface, which was a bitch in the wet. After several different attempts to make it non-slip, I ended up taking the planks up and wrapping them with the light weldmesh that you use in rabbit hutches etc.. The back tyre just ripped anything else off.

Since you are onto a decent surface, try something like https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-anti-slip-tape-50mm-x-18m-black/57217#

I'd use that stuff that is usually put on the shed roofs. Seen a lot of wooden mountain bike ramps use that stuff and it seems to do a good job.

I had a similar problem, and ended up using some roofing felt left over from the shed, its worked fine so far

Just use one ramp, I have loaded loads of bikes up a single scaffold plank.
