Today I did have a can of beer explode in my top box

Is this something that I should be aware of generally happening, or a duff batch?

I rode 1 mile home with the cans wrapped in a hoodie. Now my waterproofs and hoodie both smell like urine.

Well I've left cans in the back of my Landie in the sun so long they're too hot to hold, no explosions, not even with the landies' entertaining suspension bounce.

Last summer I had 3 cans of Vimto explode in the car, when the first one blew I thought someone had shot at the car, it was that loud.
When I got home a further 2 exlpoded in the fridge FFS!
Must have been a dodgy batch I guess.

I've had a can of Coke go off in my car's glovebox before. It was bastard hot that day though.
Nothing to do with dodgy batches - heat and shaking causes fuck-off pressures to occur that the cans simply aren't designed to handle!

I've had beer cans explode, crack, leaking their precious fluid all in the top box. Worst is when it's really hot and sunny (remember sunshine? Before all this cruddy rain) and the stench when you clean it out is like the river Styx itself. Not nice.

I put em in a backpack now, much better than the box - less vibration being absorbed through my body than the bike-mounted alternatives
