okay... so basicaly I got board of my yam diversion mostly because of the looks and the fact that I never really wanted it anyway.
but it was the most reliable bike I have ever owned.

so I set apon finding my self a new bike and some of the criteria was, not a four cylinder and wasn't black (past 2 bikes and my car were black :\ it was getting a bit old... swore to my dad that i wouldn't get an other black motorcycle or a 4 pot)

I always liked the FZR and set apon finding the rose amongst the thorns. before long I thought a ltr FZR would fin nicely (Im 6ft) and I found one localy and it did!
but since I didn't like how a diversion could brake the speed limit I decided against a 140HP sports bike and so ended up looking at this beauty.

It's a 1986 Yamaha FZR 400 genisis (first model of FZR) inported from japan in '92 ish and has had 8 owners in this country.
15K on the clocks, I think it's genuine, you can make your own mind up from the pics Wink
revs to 14K and despite that it costs £100 less to insure than the divvy and saves £30 on the tax as is 400cc Thumbs Up

there don's seem to have that much rust on the rear whitch to me seem like it was used a weekender or sumone out there accualy looked after a bike!

a standerd exhaust (apparently rare as people chop the can off)

I managed to get some parts free with the bike but looking back I actually overpaid as I left a deposit and forgot that I needed to take it off the bundle of monies that I gave him Mad Embarassed

The wheels have a rather 'fetching' blue colour, reminds me of the glaze on my dinner plates. but does give a a chance to buy some road/track tyres for the hotter days.

hopfully if I have this bike long enough I can do a full rebuild when it needs it Thumbs Up

Chris

I could of had a 600 but there's more temptation to go fast plus the insurance is a little higher and the tax, and the crazy 250 versions ar £20 less to insure so I picked the best 'all rounder' to meet my needs.

I think im going to have fun of this bike as it's so clean and dosn't look as if it has been messed with at all. The previous owner told me he was using it with the later swing arm and forks but put it back to standard (maybe for the future).

I have accually forked out for this bike (well the most expencive) as opposed to getting a cheap one and doing it up and I must say I think I have done well. Glad I picked this one..

EDIT... for Moppy

Yeah I was surprised how little there was! not like the XJ with a huge liquorice stick running down the bike and not like the CX with a steel girder running down the middle!

Corr. Im sure that motor was based on the old XJ600 lump? The filter housing looks familiar! If so, you'll do well to kill it.

Oh the possibilities with old Yam's Very Happy

Very nice, one of those will be on my shortlist as a first "Big" bike.

Splurge Laughing

MattJ has the 600 in rather tasty colours too, but his lights aren't quite so round. Still a lovely bike mind.

I want a new bike >_>

Cheers moppy. I love those round headlights too.

That bike is in such good condition. My 600R has done about 24k miles I think and it's in way worse condition cosmetically than that. Can't believe how clean and rust-free the bike is above the back wheel, my subframe is pretty much all brown Laughing. Obviously a well looked after bike if it still has the original exhaust on it.

Looks like you got a good bike there, enjoy it.

I sould have taken a pick with the tank cover off, so clean...
I have a long long list of bikes to buy in the future and thats just the short list!

It says on the side 'Delta Box' so does that mean the frame is the same one used for the TZR two stroke I hear they were pritty good aroung corners.

You see "Deltabox" sticks on a lot of Yamahas, even fairly recent R1s IIRC. Got it on my FZR, no idea what it means Laughing

sad news, yesterday night while coming back from a trip around wales a rock magicaly grew legs and walked into the road middle (square to the road) of the road in breacon,
It managed to clip the rim and thrus the boulder of a rock smashed into one of the down pipes and rip the lovley fairing into bits.
could have been a lot worse if I hadn't noticed it as early as I did, seriously the front was in the air and heading into a tree acting on instinct I must have been a few inches from lossing on the grass and plowing into a gaitpost.

and for those of you who say to fast and too close, 45ish mph (I know as the clocks were pushed into my face) and was ample room from my brother.

the bike might be having a makeover soon and transformed into a lovely charcoal covered lump of a pocket rocket.

carefull on those country roads out there! it's the time when the tractors are in and out of the fields and letting the walking stones into the road.

EDIT: the reason initially for posting was if anyone knows of a localish company that will repair rims, I would have a go at it myself but wouldn't want to ruin the powdercoat. It's only slightly bent but would prefer some one who has better equipment than a vice.
