Long time ago, but you are sorta right ,It was not a 2 part test but you could take it on a 50cc first, passing your test on a 50cc allowed you to ride a 125cc as long as you wanted , but you did not have to take the 50cc test you could have taken it on a 125 straight away and got your full license.
Actually you might be right the 2 parter came in 82 I think. longgg time ago
whatever you are covered to ride a 125cc
Right the memories are coming back now (was a star rider instructor) the first part bit was just the cones and stuff bit like a CBT, then the second part was the normal test, if you took it on a 100cc or less you could then ride a 125cc for ever, not many did this because if you took it on a 100cc+ you got an unlimited licence.
You should then have a weird category on your licence, but aint got a clue what it would be |

Ye defo a 2 parter back then .. i failed part 1 on a pk80 over in wetherby Leeds.... the bike slipped on the crappy gritty off road course they used, riding around cones .. so i thought sod it will do the straight 50cc test around the streets as the examiner stood and watched me ..the emergency stop uphill was quite difficult on a 50 ..lol
anyways as long as im ok to ride a 125 all is good ..cheers!
was a long time ago..i remember now my 80cc broke down on the test day ..and had to do it on a 50cc |

No A1 i think that is a FULL light motorcycle cat.
all i have is the full P entitlement from 1983 onwards...its a very grey area this licence business regarding categories ..but i know that full P gave you the right to ride a 125 on Ls until licence expired in the 80s

I know
i remember i got pulled by the police a about 10 years ago and had this argument with them .. in the end they agreed that i was entitled to ride a 125 cc with L plates ... i searched the net time and time again
to get clarification but you cant get a definitive answer anywhere..
you wouldnt think it would be so difficult |
