i have a car license with full moped entitlement (so yes, you can have a 50cc with pillion without any motorcycle test at all in this case)
im now getting a 100cc, so I have just done cbt, but I now need to do theory and a test. But this looks like the one for me...
125cc Training. (After test pass restricted to 33bhp for 2 years)
Test day 125cc course.
Suitable for a very capable rider that has a CBT certificate.
Consists of 2 hours pre-test training followed by the ministry test. Cost £102. https://www.ncsl.co.uk/biketraining/
....Full license for 125, and then up to 250cc ish after 2 years for a hundred squid. Bargain (unless of course I want a bigger bike later in life... hmm) ____________________ ITS ARRIVED! New Oct 2004 - Grey Speedfight 100cc ohhh yessss. And Ive passed the A2 test 1st December 2004. Bring it on! |

no mate, that gives you immediate access to a bike up to 33bhp, then after two years you can ride anything you like
I don't think there is a 'lower' test ____________________ "There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright-red, hunch-back, warp-speed 900cc cafe racer is one of them - but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one. That is why they are dangerous."

There is a license you can get which allows you to ride 125cc without L plates, with pillions and on motorways, but the cost of the test and the bike you have to do it on is the same as for the A2 test for the 2 years of 33bhp.
Whats the point of paying for the 125cc test and training for it, and then doing your 33bhp test and training? |

Forgot to ask. Can you do a test on an automatic ?
If he's done his CBT on one, 2 hours won't be enough to get used to a geared bike ____________________ the undemocratically unelected mod of the Scottish section |

Have a read through the DSA website for infomation about the moped license. Basically it costs you £48 and must be done on a 50cc ped which doesn't go above 50kmph. All it offers you that you can't do with just a CBT is you're allowed to carry a pillion and not use L plates. |

well if the cost is the same, sure, Ill do the full test, but if 48quid will give me what I want rightnow, its a lot cheaper than a 400quid intensive course.
As for 100cc being enough, I have been riding a 50cc city express round town with the missus on the back (slim and small without problem. Sure its gutless, but it hits the usual 25-30mph eventually.
However, its definitely funny with 90quids worth of supermarket shopping hanging from every possible place! (no not there), and doing 12mph up the hill outside my house with her and a rucksack , and half a dozen carrier bags .
Anyone been to thailand and seen what they can do with a moped? Well, its a exactly like that... way overloaded. As for going long distance, i agree, no way. ____________________ ITS ARRIVED!
