Fuck the disklock, buy a cyclone alarm.
Cost me the same as my oxford disc lock, is 10x louder, actually works as a deterrant. Dont have to fuck about taking it off before i go anywhere. etc etc. Oh, and the oxford's electronics fried after around two months. Wasnt impressed tbh.
Connect red wire to + on battery, connect black wire to - on battery, use stickypad supplied to attach speaker to somewhere on the bike and plug speaker into the side of the box.
Remote start/flashing indicators/immobiliser also are features, however will take a bit longer to hook up. Total install time was around 30mins on the GS500 with all the extras connected propperly & the extra speaker as i payed the extra £2 for the swearing version ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Had a Xena Disc lock alarm, that failed within 2 months.
Currently Using a Datatool Devil & looping a chain through the shackle when I'm out.
Not alot to go wrong with either piece |

I bought a similar lock to that Blue Spot as a bit of extra security more than anything.
Seems solid enough, makes a racket when moved.
Not dropped it yet though and I'm just glad the floor around the back of my house is concrete rather than hardwood. |

I tend to disagree, I have one from September 2010 still working grand
On the subject though, I have just bought some massive D lock, a chain and a cover/set of girl rape alarms and rigged them |

Strange, I've got 2 Cyclone alarms. One has had daily use in all weathers since the end of 2008, the other has been fitted since June '09 and mainly gets used in Summer. Neither have caused any problem and are very much alive. ____________________ Prize cunt

Out and about I use one of these combined with the bikes cat1 alarm, seams to do the trick and is probably tougher than most disc locks.
Edit, there's one on a well known auction site for around £20, more than I paid for mine but a bit less than the RRP. |

Word of warning about the Xena XX14. I have found that over the last few months the alarm unit would go off randomly, even when it was not on my bike!?
When riding through Wolverhampton yesterday the thing starts going off whilst under my bike seat. It's loud enough to get you noticed as you ride by members of the public
So I pull over to a side street and and spend 25 minutes trying to stop this thing going off in my hand every 15 seconds............ A fooking nightmare
Solution:
Smashing the thing off the tarmac until the alarm unit popped out and I could remove the battery. Despite the rough treatment the lock construction remains unaffected so it's still functional as a detterent. ____________________ Suzuki SFV 650 (Gladdy) > Triumph Street Triple R |

+1 for the cyclone.
I've had my one for 2 years now. had it on 3 different bikes. fantastic thing.
The remote start is a waste of time, but the flashing indicators is brilliant, as well as the flashing LED as a visual deterrent if someone has a look over it. The immobiliser is also a great feature if you're gonna use it.
I've stuck a 135db alarm on it which is seriously loud. had it go off a couple times outside when there's no wind or rain etc so i'd like to believe it is working

Even if there is an issue over winter, then i'd put money on that being down to a lack of heatshrink over the splice connectors for the rest of the loom. Insulating tape/vaseline round everything im pretty sure would solve that lot.
Definately dont use an oxford screamer though. Of all the bike stuff i've bought that's been the single biggest dissapointment. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.
