Just got my weekly newsletter, sad I know, and they want to know what people think about the new test regulation. Well, some of them;
1) reducing the minimum engine power for A2 from 25kW to 20kW
2) increasing the minimum power for A from 40kW to 50kW
3) introducing a minimum mass weight ratio of 180kg for A
The above changes are supposed to come into effect from December 2013

Le shrug. The vast majority of A2 and A3 (are the DSA calling it A? The legislation says A3) candidates will go via a training school, I can't think of any realistic choice of 395cc+ test bikes that make under 25kW or 595cc+ bikes that make 35.1 - 49.9kW or mass less than 180kg.
It seems like more pointless fiddling for the sake of it. That's what Brussels does. That's all that they do. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Think that is the same as this thread only shorter. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

No, these are additional changes to the Jan 2013 ones. |
Exactly, the new regime isn't even in place yet, and those oxygen thieves in Brussels are already dicking around with it.
It's a pretty good indication that they're not done with biking yet, not by a long shot. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Heh, actually the Lifan Thunder 400 (sleeved down Virago 535 copybike) is just under 25kW.
It will be (a bit) interesting to see how schools handle the A2 category. New NC700S or G650GS bikes, keep some old 500 twins going and restrict or 'restrict' them a tiny bit, or just rock up on their new ER-6ns and Gladiuses[*] and say "Yeah, it's making 35kW today, whatever."
[*] Yes, I know it's Gladii, but language always changes for the gooder. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

They don't need to, the DSA gold platers are busily at work doing it: the Brough Superior List.
Read the lulz at the top:
| DSA Spackers wrote: | For machines not on this list or where an individual machine has been restricted to comply with the minimum test vehicle requirements it will be accepted for test providing certified proof of compliance or restriction is available for the examiner. This must be a certificate or on headed paper from an official source such as a main dealer, official importer or recognised specialist in restricting vehicles. Dyno certificates are not acceptable. |
Utter clowns. Who do they imagine "certifies" restriction? Whom do they "recognise"?
Actually, FOI ahoy, clown-fellows. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
