Helmet Woes :(

I bought a Schuberth S2 from Hein Gericke in their 'being sold' sale, and I'm having serious problems with wind noise, ironic as its meant to be one of the quietest helmets out there!

I use the included chin flap, but this is very rigid and moves around when you put the helmet on, and I can never get it in the right place with my finger

I'm going to send an email off to Schuberth but anywhere above 40mph I have a howling noise in the helmet - almost like thunder next to my ears, even with the tunes on it is still very noticeable. The S2 is easily louder than my £80 HJC that it replaced.

Does anyone have any experience of this? I know earplugs are the logical solution but I'd like to get the quietest helmets to work by itself before I consider those!

I was looking at Schuberth helmets as they were generally regarded as the quietest helmets. I have an AGV S4 SV which is annoying as hell.

Guess i'll have to keep looking

Can't say I remember seeing anyone other threads recently mentioning the helmet, sorry.

I'm guessing contacting Schuberth might be the best way forward.

My Schuberth R1 full face, with elasticated fabric chin flap, was very quiet.

Got any sort of screen on your bike ?

They can create massive noise on helmets. As a helmet is designed for clear airflow.

If you have a screen, try ducking under it or standing on the pegs and see what happens.

Mine goes from noisy to super quiet when in clean air.

Doesn't sound good, listen to advice above but also, if you're not too interested in the vents then you can take the inner lining out and any holes you can use a bit of cotton wool and tape to stop the wind getting in.

Are you sure it's the right size? It's ok picking it up a bit cheaper but not for the sake of "it'll do".

I mention this because I tried a Schuberth a few years ago when they were at the NEC show. They seemed to put a lot of empahasis on measuring heads in the right place and getting the helmet right size.

That said I didn't quite have a Schuberth shaped head. Sad really as I would have really liked a really quiet flip front helmet.

Would like to know what Schuberth's reply is.

dude get some ear plugs!

I have a Shoei XR-1100 and its meant to be a great helmet.......its nosy as heck above 50mph so any time i know i will be doing speeds above 50mph i take my custom made ear plugs/earphones with me!

dont think there is a helmet which gets rid of wind noise i wonder how the £400+ helmets fare with wind noise?
