I dispair at what this country is coming to when a senior member of parliament can't communicate his meaning in an articulate, relevant and correct manner that will be understood by the general public.

I think the phrase you were looking for Andrew was "Jobsworth Tossers.". Then everyone would have understood what you were meaning. If you keep using words like pleb, they wont know what you're on about.

Tsk, they are so out of touch. Rolling Eyes

The general public are plebs.

Quote:
Noun 1. pleb - one of the common people
plebeian
common people, folk, folks - people in general (often used in the plural); "they're just country folk"; "folks around here drink moonshine"; "the common people determine the group character and preserve its customs from one generation to the next"
common man, common person, commoner - a person who holds no title
anti-intellectual, lowbrow, philistine - a person who is uninterested in intellectual pursuits

Yes. But the policeman making him get off his bicycle and push it out through the pedestrian exit instead of leaving by the main gate was a Jobsworth Tosser.

Do try to keep up.

Spineless Jobsworth Tosser. If Snooty McToff was doing something illegal, he should have collared him on the spot and passed it to the CPS, rather than whinging to his sergeant and then grassing him up to the press like a snivelling bitch - is that consistent with his code of professional standards?

Ah well, looks like McToff is pretty unpopular and the knives are out for him, but Spineless Jobsworth Tosser has likely just put a lid on his own career as well, so I'd call that a win-win.

oh no, what is the world coming to?

"STFU" *carries on riding*

simple.

i know first hand how retarded the police are.

april 16th 2006:

i was arrested for £2m worth of cannabis being farmed in an industrial warehouse at whitehall road industrial estate in thanet.

why?

because i have the same first and last name as my old man who was working there.

after this i moved back up north for a while because my old man fled the country (asshole) and couldnt afford the £750pcm + bills on the bungalow (i was 18/19 and staying at my dads for a bit)

margate police sent a car all the way up to huddersfield to "pick me up" and "bring me back" which they did.

they asked me 3 questions, put me in a cell for the night and released me the next day. (by this point my solicitor is getting annoyed) they issue a train warrant ticket thing for me to return up north.

3 weeks later my mum and nan are up north visiting for a holiday which is called short because i get a phone call "get back down here or we'll arrest you for perverting the course of justice" so my mum and nan dive me down. during the car drive some ass crashes in to my nans car.

then when we FINALLY get back down, the officer in charge who wanted to question me "has gone on holiday"

solicitor: "at this point i must advise you that you should be seeking legal action against margate police for multiple grounds"

it was a long month and a bit and i didnt want to drag it out. so i left it.

nan claimed back the damages to the car from them though (and damn right)

after a few days thought i decided to put in a large complaint. never really heard back over it.

so yes, THATS how incompetent certain police are. they waste money and resources, dont follow through and generally take the job to cause more annoyance than good.

someone said "the proof of crime prevention isnt in police arresting people, its in police not being seen" or some shit to that extent. if that was true and crime rates really are down, why the HELL arent they out there patrolling and a more common sight?

ohhh thats cause they're all doing paperwork on the crimes that "arent being commited" or are screwing up other peoples plans!

um i should say, i didnt actually have anything to do with the cannabis farm lol.

What..... and cycled straight into the closed security gates, which are only opened up for motor vehicles that have the relevant security clearance.

no, your wrong. i was an innocent party in the entire affair and the police fucked up beyond belief.

if i had the mind, time and effort i would have taken my solicitors advice as he offered to do it "no win no fee, other side pays my fees".

but i was younger then and couldnt be bothered with it.

so unless you have something constructive and factual. shut it.

Sense of humour disappeared with your dad too huh?

I'm not trying to keep up; I'm bringing enlightenment to the plebs.

On a related note, the chap who wrote the Jobsworth Song stayed at my house once - Jeremy Taylor. Great bloke.

I'm on the side of the jobsworth tosser. Although I agree he should have arrested the bloke on the spot, rules are rules. Why should the copper be in a position where he has to selectively enforce policies, depending on the seniority of the transgressor? It's also ironic that these policies likely come from politicians under Mitchell's whip, and people like him.

Like the bank fraud we're all paying for, I'd like the police to be investigating that and locking up those responsible. Double standards are bad for everyone.

I'd say a baton in the spokes of his front wheel would have him dismounted quick sharp, and a plebian size 11 boot across the throat might remind him he's a public servant and to have some respect for those protecting his sorry arse.

He shouldn't have expected common sense from a cop!

It raises an interesting question though. Who do we trust least, the police or politicians?

Rules are not rules... A crap rule should not be enforced and simply got rid of.

And what exactly should the MP have been arrested for? You can use a lot harsher language in front of a police officer and they're meant to be big and tough enough to handle it...

Yes they are!

I checked the link, headline/subheadline reads -

Teenager justified in swearing at police, mother says

A teenager who successfully overturned his conviction for swearing at police was justified in abusing officers because they use foul language themselves, his mother said last night.

Totally different scenario. I doubt the copper would have shouted 'Get off your fucking bike Mitchell!'. This bloke is the chief whip of the tory party, and the arrogance of power just drips from his alleged behaviour, includung his denials of it. I doubt the copper would make stuff up in order to enter a potential world of shit.

I've had police tell me to get off my pushbike whilst scooting it along the pavement, if I can button my lip I'd imagine this Mitchell can as well.

Only plebs follow rules Wink

A stupid rule should not be obeyed just because it exists - challenge rules, it makes the world a better place. If I was told to go round the other way because I was on a push bike and not something with a motor I would question the point, if they decided to be a jobs worth about it I'm sure I would make a comment to that effect. Probably not in the way the MP did, but I'm happy he told a jumped up jobs worth where to stick it.

If you read past the headlines then you'd find that it's not because they swore at him, but that the police are used to foul language and so should not be expected to take offence.

Aha, I read that as 'used' so got the wrong idea. Embarassed

But maybe I could dress up like a policeman and get away with it, because that's what coppers do themselves eh? Wink

I agree that silly rules should be challenged but having a go at those whose job is simply to enforce the rules is likely to be counter productive. I can't imagine a copper campaigning for a change in policy after someone takes them to task for being a jobsworth.

I'm not especially keen on the filth myself, but next to chief whips they're like Jesus & co.

most certainly politicians take the cake and all time award for untrust worthy cunts .twaty private school boys all theory and no practice calling shots and bullshitting there way through life . i would like to see the likes of people like cameron and the likes beheaded french revolucion stylie

so the police help enforce an unjustifiable justice system sometimes . but there not the ones making the rules . to be honest a lot of the time i can sympathize with the old bill . when its a few against a few thousand its nowonder they get there backs up sometimes when it must seem like the whole country is against them .

agreed some of them are cocks but thats true in all walks of life isnt it . its mixed nutts man wherever u go . but one things for sure everyone is nutts . apart from you . you fruit Laughing

So if the guy had been a passenger in his parliamentary limousine would he have been expected to get out and go through the man-gate?

If he had been riding a DR350,would he have been expected to get off and wheel it through the man-gate?

He was riding a "vehicle"; the coppers should have been ready with those gates to open and shut them sharpish.

The bit that concerns me greatly is David Cameron saying that "..the police should always be respected, especially in the light of two heroes getting killed." Sorry, but FUUUUCCKKK OFFFFF!!!!!

I'm reaching a bit here, but it seems to me that the gubbermint has pandered to the great unwashed for a couple of days by lambasting the South yorkshire police over the two-decades-old Hillsborough affair, but when it comes to the police-of-the-moment it's a definite case of "Do as you're told, and mind how you go, Sir".
