well helmet to be precise Laughing

Finally signed my life away for a garage thats a very short walk from home. Keeping the bike there when I get some decent security etc installed but I'm wondering what to do with my gear?

Do you guys with a garage keep it there or at home and walk around to the garage with it? if you do keep it there how do you stop it going mouldy with the moist air?

Thanks

I keep my kit in the house - left some gloves in the garage for a few weeks by accident once and they went green with mould Thumbs Down

Would something airtight, like a fridge/freezer work? You could get a knackered one and store your stuff in there (with it off obviously) Laughing

I guess that would work. So long as its air tight right?

No power in the garage anyway Laughing

As long as it's air tight and your lid/gloves are bone dry...

Depends how long you are planning on keeping your gear in the garage for, unused. Regular usage won't be a problem but if your not going to ride throughout winters for e.g then i'd bring all your gear inside your house seeing as though the garage is not far from your place

Grab a battery powered heater and stick it in the corner. Leave gear in there and recharge batteries at home.

Or, just keep stuff indoors. Laughing

I usually take my gear away to the house - I figure if someone is going to break in and thieve my bike they'll have to bring their own gear as I don't want to make it too easy for them. Plus it's worth a bit on it's own. My garage is about 30 seconds from my house so not a problem for me really.

I would, my gloves (I do sometimes leave a couple of pairs of those in the garage) are definitely feeling moist now and I have seen green mould on them previously. My garage leaks like a sieve though so Rolling Eyes

A standard high powered halogen will give off enough heat and light for a garage

Are they electric thought? garage has no power.

just been round and had a proper look in the garage, its well ventilated. Some bricks have been removed to neighbour garages at the top so ventilation should be good. Will dampness still be a problem.

It had windows at the back but they have been boarded up and had the roof skimmed.

Plenty of screws on the floor Rolling Eyes

I bought one of these:

https://www.homebase.co.uk/wcsstore/homebase/images/209684HBO111111X.jpg

And stuck it up next to the coat rack next to front door. Is a really good fit to hang a helmet from.

Thumbs Up

My bikes live in a garage that is temperature controled and then they are wrapped in bubble-wrap and put down in a bed of finest goose down.
My kit is hematicaly sealed in a sterile container after being washed in the water from the tears of Angels.

Nah! bike lives in the garage along with the kit.
Kit is hung up so it does`nt get mingy/mouldy/damp.

Never had a problem putting kit in the garage as long as it is ventilated.

Ar, thanks for the info (hehe at the bubble wrap!)

Might be easier during the summer months so people dont see me walking away with kit on and know there is a bike left!

Got a cheap ass wardrobe in the garage where I keep my kit, everyday helmet and gloves sit on top of it, never had a problem with mould or anything, if gloves are wet from rain I stick them in the airing cuboard to dry overnight.
