|
|
Hi all newbie here, I have a Yamaha Jog RR 50cc and have recently fitted a Tecnigas exhaust....only because my old exhaust fell off and this was the cheapest 2nd hand one on ebay! anyway..when i pull off my bike seems to be really sluggish and slow and get stuck at about 25mph but if i stay on a road long enough at full throttle you hear the bike go for it then im hitting over 50mph but its taking 20-30secs at slowwww speeds to get to the point where it picks up. what can be causing this? some 1 suggested rollers to me but im a newb when it comes to bikes. any help would be great thanks |

Roller's will be an issue,
But also it will need be up jetted as a 2 Stroke which run's lean is very dangerous and can cause damage.
Chance's are someone on here will know what roller's you will need.
Contact Adrenaline Pedstop ( Performance scooters ) and ask them what roller's they suggest fitting to a Jog RR with " your " exhaust fitted. they will be able to tell you everything.
As for the jetting it's just a case of figuring out what main jet you need, you normally go up by 4 - 6 in jet's example if your main jet is 90 you will need to go up to 94, you do this by doing " plug chops " running the scooter up till warm, taking the bike flat out until it wont rev higher, then ignition off , grind to a holt , remove plug, then see what color it is.
Here is a color diagram...
https://motomalaya.net/blog/2011/08/10/spark-plug-colour-condition-for-carburetor-tuning-guide/
You need to be at least " good " in the picture above. ( brownish )
I am also sure if you go on the Yamaha forum you will find PLENTY of information about jetting & roller's.
Good Luck

You just need lighter rollers, I see you're coming around to the idea of rollers over jetting Matt :p ____________________ Rides: Yamaha FZR 750 & KMX 200

Yes dealer is correct however...
Running rich is ok, well it's not but it won't do your engine much harm
Running lean is BAD, if you look at your spark plug you will be able to tell.
You will need to do " Plug Chops " take the scooter on a run with the new rollers in, warm it up first, take it for a run up the road and back, which ignition off, roll to a stop, take the spark plug out and see what the color is like:
https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?253881-Sparkplug-Color!
Should be brownish...
Good Luck
