Deep clean

Hi,

I'm embarking on the first deep clean on my bike. I'm replacing the rear mud guard, chain and sprockets and also hammeriteing the shit out of the frame at the same time.

Question is, I plan to use wd40 to clean away the grease, but then I'm not sure what to clean away the wd40 with. Would muc off to the trick.

A YouTube video I watched said that wd40 is an oil based cleaner and that I have wash that away with a water based cleaner. I'm just unsure if muc off fits the bill?

gunk degreaser would be choice for remove general engine grime etc hose off with water

Leave the WD40 in the cupboard for when you want to displace some moisture. Auto Glym engine degreaser is good, rinses off with water and, if used correctly, lasts ages.

Forget the WD40, Gunk or Jizer will do the job nicely.

I knew there was a reason why I understand the above and why I don't know a Phillips from a Stevens screw driver.

I wanted to paint the section the rear foot rests attach to, got a big fuck off bolt half way out before realising it held the swing arm on!!!

Chain guard bolt fucked, sheered off, had to drill it out, re thread the hole.
Rear sprocket nut, 3 came off fine, 1 was stuck solid
Pissed it down with rain in the afternoon
Couldn't get the new chain on, couldn't find pliers to set the pin
All back together in the dark with a broken security light that goes off every 60 seconds, rear wheel doesn't spin freely.

Looks like I'm taking the car tomorrow! So pissed off.

Still saved an arm and a leg, if it works.
