 |
|
hey guys, im having a spot of bother........again
im trying to get the mrs ke125 up together for her,
i fitted the loom, connected everything up and fired it up,
starts and runs great but when you switch on the lights they are really really bright - even at tick over, then with a lil rev they go into search light mode before blowing, the headlight/speedo/tach bulbs all blow together!!
iv had a search thru the wiring diagram and it would seem that the headlight gets it power directly from the mag so it would seem to me that the reg (rec ?) is ok
the battery is fitted but its proper dead - would that cause the bulb issue or is it more likely to be the mag playing up ???
thanks for any help guys |

If your battery is giving a reading of 7V, how is it dead? Do the checks suggested above and see what readings you get whilst running the engine at various RPM's.[/quote]
ahh i wasnt being very clear, what i meant was although the batterys dead - proper dead, i have only fitted it so hopefulty nothing else will get cooked whilst im fiddling with it,
i measured 7ish volts at the battery leads whilst the bike was running (fast tickover), anything above that (2k rpm ish) just blows the bulbs !!!

thanks for the input guys,
it was the mag playing up, it got so bad that even taking a voltage reading was impossible as it was fluctuating so badly the multimeter couldnt keep up
i ended up testing for a current using a test light which, when some power was actually found, 'pulsed' the bulb from very dim to very very bright
got hold of a s/h mag and it seems to have done the trick
thanks again |
