My card and paper licences both have my old address on them. When I went for my theory test, the lady there mentioned it, and then at my MOD1, the guy said I 'must' get it changed to my new address before I go for the MOD2. Why?

I swear I read somewhere (possibly dvla/dsa website) that when you pass your test, if a wrong address is written down for you on your licence or whatever, you just tell them, so your new licence goes to the right address. It seemed to be nothing major.

The reason this concerns me is because I don't want to send off right now for new licence parts and then have to wait so long that I miss the new year and the new rulings leave me stuck on a 125 after my test! So ideally I'd like to just go through the MOD2 with my 'old address' licences. I've been fine at every other stage of the process...

Seems a bit harsh, they could do a change of address at the same time as adding the category. But that's obviously expecting a bit much of the DVLA.

Well, if they say they won't do a change of address, then you're boned, unless you keep quiet about it and can get whomever is in your old gaff to forward it on.

Yeah that sounds like the thing I read. It seems pretty logical to me, to pass the test and then do the change of address and licence update all together.

So yeah, I think I'll leave it and just do this test asap!

You have 2 options:

1. Fill in the change of address part at the bottom of the paper part. Easy.

2. When the examiner asks you if that is still your address say yes. When you pass and the examiner asks if you would like them to send your new licence to you say no and send it off yourself after filling in the address change.

Both options work fine.

I know for a fact that with a car license that if you fill in the change of address that it is fine. They send it off and it will have your new address.

I had my old address on my licence too.

I filled in the new address part on the paper counterpart and when I passed mod 2 they sent it off for the new class to be added and did my address at the same time.

When I was at the DSA Test Centre for my Mod 2, a car driver was asked if their address was correct, she said no. Was told to fill it in there and then and at the end it could be sent away. I saw she'd passed as well, so I wouldn't necessarily think dis-honesty is the best policy.

It clearly worked in her case, just admitting.
